A dear brother in late 1990 died at a hospital forgotten and ignored by the elders in a local congregation. He had been baptized in uniform (Naval) the day he got out of the Navy. Now that is a new one, in fact there was an article in a watchtower/awake years ago about him but don't believe it mentioned being in naval uniform when he was baptized.

since 9/11 it seems a lot of focus has been on the iraq war and lately there have been quotes of president bush saying that terrorism in iraq is what needs to be concentrated on.
well, last night on the late night show " coast to coast ", col. john alexander a weapons and military expert was talking about our governments ignoring dangerous happenings in our own back yard.

Porous border(s) it seems whichever administration is in office the borders aren't closed, they should be it will be hell to pay for both parties when something on the scale of 9/11 happens again. I believe (gut feeling) that something is in the works the terrorists are plotting and the administration sits around with their head up in their arses. The congress isn't any better in fact worse, you don't hear anyone on the democrats going balistic on lets close the fing border. The same with the Reps.
Pelosi, Reed, and others are sititng mentally in lala land pushing forth ear marks for their areas and to hell with the security of this country. I have armed myself and continue to do so, it will get crazy one of the days (I hope it doesn't) but nothing seems to be going on to remedy the situation. We need a kicfk ass president from whatever party and there so far doesn't seem to be one out there. We are going to be sorry and the ones responsible Congress, Pres and those in the admin are the guilty ones. Watch you 12 and 6 and have it on rock and roll, be alert to the situation around you. Look for problems and just maybe it won't surprise you personally. regards. Ush

elizabethton, tenn. - a plane carrying five jehovah's witness ministers crashed in a remote area of eastern tennessee, killing all aboard, officials said.. the crash, which happened around 10:30 a.m. saturday, wasn't discovered until more than eight hours later, when another pilot spotted the wreckage.. authorities had to clear a path sunday to get to the crash site in the cherokee national forest on holston mountain.

Guess they didn't have Jehoveers protection huh? Yes Sad, but you could take this as Jehoveer not wanting the congregations to spend more of their money on newer more useless kindgom halls. just a thought. Feel for their families but not for the society.

My grandmother's ring, STOLEN
by Irish Rose ina little over a year ago my sister and her husband had stayed with my husband and i. i won't go into the details, but while here they had stolen several items from us.
some of the things we discovered, very soon after they had disappeared, and others it has takens us a little longer to discover.. when i was 17 my grandmother gave me a ring.
it was a black onix with two diamonds, set in a silver band.

Irish Rose, I know how you must feel. I had a golden ring I had bought in Thailand many years ago and when some "friends" came over to visit their child was snooping around in our bedroom. Upshot of it was I didn't discover the loss of the ring for almost two years as I don't wear it and when was looking for it saw that it was gone. The spouse doesn't wear it, my kids are gone and the only person who had ever been in our bedroom before being run out was these so called "friends" daughter.
I haven't confronted them with it, but let it be known that in no uncertain terms that their daughter isn't allowed in our house anymore, so now they don't come over any more either and thats fine with us. In another instance when my children were your 3&4 yrs old., had a frineds daughter who use to baby sit, Well we saved quarters and half dollars in a jar over the manthle and one day I was getting them out, had to use a butter knife rather than break the bottle and my son age 4 and daughter age 3 were watching me and said dad that's how "so and so" gets them out too. When asked what it was they were talking about my son told me that she takes money from the jar and when they had seen her she threatened them said she was going to kill us and them. Well it took about two nano seconds for me to go over to her house and confront her in front of her parents. She vehemently tried to deny it, and of course her mother was taking her side and said my little children didn't know what they were talking about. This was getting rather heated until the sitters brother came in and heard what we were talking about. he must have been mad at his sister at the time (she use to treat him like crap) so he told his mom and dad that she does that in fact she had told him that she had gotten money for a movie they both went to from my money jar. Upshot of all of it was we lost her parents as friends.
I have a coniving sister in law who steals pictures from us., a while back we were looking through some of her pictures she had and talking about the old days etc., when my wife and I spied a couple of pictures we had been missing and had been heart broken over losing them. Well there they were in my sister in law's photo album, when asken how she got them she said well you guys gave them to me, I promptly told her no we didn't I remember you asking for them and us telling you we didn't have the negatives for them and t hat was the only two in existence and that no we weren't going to give them to you., they come up missing and low and behold you have them. I told her there must have been a misunderstanding on her part (family you know) and took them out of the album and took them home with us. Now it seems she is still up to her old ways. My daughter has been staying with her and her husband for awhile while working out of town and she had some jewelry come up missing and guess who she saw wearing it several months later. Once a thief always a thief i think. This sister n law has so much jewelry that she doesn't have to steal my daughters. Even her own husband remembered that it belonged to my daughter when she wore it and when she had gone to work the next day he took it and returned it to my daughter. Needless to say my daughter doesn't stay with them anymore., she can't trust her aunt.
Sorry for your loss and it especially sucks when its family that does it.

This you man and his father stand as an example of what two people can accomplish, even though disabled, (sightless) this young man has acquired a full joy filled life. His father and mother are priceless., those mothers and fathers who have children they don't talk to because of the borg should listen to this. and then meditate on how their relationship is with their children, not how their relationship is with an organization that doesn't care about the childless boy, single parent or disabled among them. The borg only cares about itself and nothing at all for the R&F it purports to love.

JW growth statistics anyone?
by winnie ini am currently debating a topic with someone who cosistantly says that the wt is growing at a rate of 5000 per week and 50 new halls each week.
he reckons he's privvy to 'inside' info that suggests this.. does anyone have any of the actual worldwide growth rates and new halls being built?.

Jdubs can make the stats say anything they want to. However, the real truth any real growth just comes from 3rd World Countries, and the constant push to have family members (i.e. children) baptized. Had one witless ask recently aren't you encouraging your child to become baptized. I looked them right in the eye and said, "no of course not, they are too young and cant even make a responsible decision on marriage much less on something that will effect thier entire lives, so i have encouraged my child to look, observe actions, see consequences and be like Jesus and become baptized at 30 for heaven's sake just follow Jesus' example."
