Why did you get married?
by pratt1 inas a young dub in the 80's me along with many of my friends got married, either in our teens or early 20's.. in my area, if you were over 25 and not married, it was percieved that something was wrong with you or you were probably engaging in sex with a "worldly" person.. by why did so many of us feel the need to get married so young?.
i believe it was because of one of three reasons.. 1. you wanted to get out of your parets home.. 2. you had already gone "too far" with you girlfriend or boyfriend.. 3. you were just an average normal teenager and you knew this was the only way you could legally have sex.. .
was this true in your area?.

On fading
by lola28 inso i was thinking about this today and wanted to see what you guys think about fading?
for a long time i thought that this was the way to go especially if you wanted to maintain certain relationships be it with family or friends but lately i'm not so sure that fading is the best way to go and here is why.. the stress of having to go to meetings is some times overwhelmingthe amount of time you waste going to meetings when you no longer believe is time you will never get back, time that could have been spent doing something that you really do love, life is short why waste it in the hall?
the end results are the same if you are dfed, daed or fade.

I love point number 4. My sister is df, as am I. but she will go to the memorial with my mom sometimes and is not very clear about if she is not a jw because she lives with her bf who she is not married to, or if it is because she doesn't want to be a jw anymore. I think it is very mean to my mom, because it gets her hopes up and then crushes them. I am very firm with my mom so that she knows that I do not want to be a jw anymore. I would hate to hurt her more than I already have.

Do You Still Act Like A Jehovah's Witness?
by prophecor ini'm not very far removed, any longer from how i presented myself as a witness, and how i do today.
i'm usually polite, cordial, respectful of others, even those who i may have very little regard for or those who on a regular basis, piss me off.
i work very hard not to use foul language.

I think that I act more like how they wanted me to than I did when I was in. I don't feel the need to show so much skin, and I still do all the nice things that they preach, just try not to act how they act. But the theory is good, just not the way they put it into practice.

Does JV risk bankruptcy?
by TheNaturalStep inas i have heard they had to pay really much cash to those who sued them "silent lamb".
so my question is, are there any other individuals or groups who are about to sue jv?
and if so could that cause jv to go bankrupt.

I don't think the FBI could get their database because it is protected by the confessional seal, or whatever the jws call it. Because it was confessed to them in their role as "Gods Rep's".

That is very sad :(( I think it varies, I know of a brother in the cong I am from that is in prison now for molesting his little girl, but he wasn't an elder and didn't have any family in the truth, also there are some states that have passed laws requiring it to be reported, but in some states there is a loophole.

So, critics argue that this convincing proof Daniel was there in the 2nd year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign. But if Daniel had already been there at least 3 years, how could he interpret the dream in Nebuchadnezzar’s 2nd year? It would have been at least his 3rd year. So, why did Daniel write that it was in the 2nd year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign? ~~~ This does not even make since, just because they were fed from the table of the king for 3 years does not mean that the disturbing dream happened after that time. And even if Daniel was counting from when Jerusalem was destroyed, and it says that it was after the 3 years of good food that the dream happened. Then how could it have also been 2 years after Jerusalem was destroyed? You cannot have it be 2 and 3 years after it was destroyed. I don't know what the real time table is, but the way they are trying to prove it in that article is not very good writing.

At lot of things are factual and the JWs just ignore it in favor of what works for them.

The work Word Studies in the New Testament by M.R. Vincent, comments that this word most frequently refers to practical Wisdom and prudence. 1904. Part Two of Four. Marvin Vincent's Word Studies has been treasured by generations of pastors and lay people. His insightful comments on the meanings, derivations and uses of significant Greek words and idioms bring a clearer understanding of the original language of the New Testament-even if you don't read a word of Greek. It's a valuable tool for incorporating the riches of the original language into sermons, lessons and personal study. from Amazon.com's deception of the book sited for the article. My thoughts are isn't it interesting that the best source the can come up with is over 100 years old, its not like any advancements in understanding ancient Greek could have been made in 100 years. And because JWs are so against learning and education they don't have anyone working in New York who actually speaks Greek or anything of the sort. (Also when you send JWs to college they tend to learn to think for themselves) You would think it would be encouraged to everyone living in Bethel and in New York to learn what they can. But not them.
