Disfellowshipping Experiences...
by feenx inhey all :)

It was a very long process. We tried to help him for many years. Counsel, encouragement etc. But all attempts failed. His presence caused a lot of dissent and affected the peace in the congregation. I never understood why someone would want to be part of an organization and not try to accept the standards? All his family is non-jw. Never understood this guy. Proud? No way. I do hope he is happy, because he wasn't happy in the congregation.

There was a 'young people ask' article this year or last year. Can't remember. But the article said homosexuality may or may not be genetic; no one knows for sure. Awake was not going to 'join the debate'. But the bible prohibits it, so you must find a way to suppress it.

It took 5 years to DF someone. The JC took about 6 months. Hearing after hearing, appeals etc. A real pain in the ... This guy knew all the rules and loop holes. He was a law student who would question decisions, arrangements etc. We finally got him on "loose conduct".

by 4mylove inchatting with my hubby, he made yet another comment that made my blood boil.

"WTS was going to provide an attorney for him" We had a situation in our hall. Called NY and they instructed us to encourage him to return "home". Cited some scripture and told him he was on his own. The congregation would not aid him. If someone wanted to help him, it would be their personal decision.

elders. IS going to or throwing a birthday party a DFing offense?

depends on the person and the situation. If you have been warned and "marked" and still show a brazen disrespectful attitude by having the party -- Yes, a JC should be formed for loose conduct. *** it-2 p. 265 Loose Conduct *** Nevertheless, some claiming to be servants of God and Christ turn from the way of light and display a brazen, defiant attitude toward divine law and authority

Exciting announcements at service meeting
by truthseeker inwe've already had a post on this, but there were other interesting comments.. the brother giving the announcements said that there would be a new understanding of jesus' reference to the generation as discussed at the annual meeting.. an elder giving a service meeting part review of different watchtower articles from the current year brought out the new light concerning 1935.. he asks: "when is the sealing of the anounted ones?".
elder answers: "there is no specific date".
later after the meeting, i asked an elder if the new understanding of the remnant now meant that younger people could go to heaven.. he answered with an affirmative "yes" and that we would be getting the new understanding of the generation jesus spoke of in a future 2008 watchtower.. .

Interesting thread. I haven't received a letter from "mother" about this new light (I receive all the cong. mail). We haven't been told to announce anything about any doctrine change. The only official real news are; the elder school and 2009 International convention letter. Sounds like this elder was at the annual meeting and is 'jumping the gun'. Until it appears in print, it's all speculation/hearsay.

week long elders training class for 08 confirmed
by isaacaustin inannounced at my parents service meeting last night
-

Yes, this is confirmed. POs will be invited first. A follow up letter will be sent requesting individual PO availability. It sounds like attendance will be based on individual availability, not seniority. The school is only available in English. This will exclude most of the spanish POs. CO said they should be able to train all the english speaking POs in 2008. No mention about expenses.

They may create a provision for the congregation to pay the travel expenses. I know when the CO comes to town, the congregation foots the bill. A few years ago the COs had an all expense paid school in patterson. It lasted over a month. Im sure the society covered their expenses. If the society requires us to pay for it, it shouldn't be an obstacle for most elders. Airfare from the west coast to NY is under 500 round trip. Im sure they will "negotiate" a special rate with an airline. Lodging and meals will be provided by the society. Who knows, they may even make provisions for us to stay with the local bros. It can end up having an "international convention" feel! The hard part may be getting a week off from work. And leaving the family behind; If the elder cant afford to fly his entire family to NY.

The Effect of Losing Elders
by metatron inlosing elders in the us puts the organization into quite a dilemma.
they hate large congregations.
but can't split without enough appointed local 'enforcers'.

I am an elder. I don’t have doubts this is the truth and I have faith that in due time Jehovah will reward his org. But I am exhausted as an elder and it does take its toll on me and my family. My conscience is starting to bother me... good bye
