you don't have to get married in the k.h. it is not mandatory. when i was still a witness, my ex hubby and i got married at city hall. maybe that is why we were not asked if had sex before marriage. i do know that my ex and i had sex before we were married. we were even living together. this was totally unknown to anyone at the k.h. , but it doesn't make it right. as a result, our union was not blessed. then again, how can you be blessed in an organization that is not of God in the first place. rely on your bible, your personal prayer life and not some organization that flip flops and gets new light every time it suits their needs. 1Timothy 2:5 says that there is only ONE mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus God Bless, freddi

That was great Terry. I am going to use that info the next time I go out to do outreach work with my church. I am an ex JW and I am always running into them on the street. My approach to them is not discussing doctrine but I try to open up their eyes to the WT Society and their beginning. They often want me to prove where they ever predicted things and this is a good start.
Give us some more facts from their own words. This is truly great material to use when speaking with them.

not for nothin', but why is it that when there is a crisis that the u.s. must be the ones to offer so much help when we have people in "our own country" that are homeless and starving?it is about time that other countries have stepped up to the plate and helped others like we have always done for many, many yrs. we are told that there are not enough jobs for people. folks can't even get a decent raise, bonus etc. taxes are raised because we are told that the country is hurting finanacially. who helped us during 9/11? tell me who! mind you, i do feel for the people in the latest disaster in asia and i have even contributed money, food and clothing but our people are hurting and we are told that there is not enough for us to help our own? something stinks! we are not the international police. we need to first concentrate on helping our own black, white, red, brown whatever. we have building after building that are left standing after a fire. instead we can clean these places up and open them up to the homeless but no, we don't have the money to do that. our children in urban areas can't even get acess to computers or even library books because there is no funding. why? because we can't afford it! people are dying because our govt. can't afford to give universal health care. why? cause we can't afford it?
but we have the money and are obligated to give it to others just to show that we are all that? show our own people that we are all that. take care of our own backyard. when you can take care of your own then you can go out there like big brother and reign supreme because you have taken care of your own. how can you be somebody else's baby's daddy when you can't take care of your own?

hi all,
i am no longer a j.w. as you all know but i still refuse to celebrate halloween. i choose not to indulge in any festivity that is in total opposition to the only true living God.
however, at least those who do decide to celebrate the holiday can make the decision for themselves. God does give us a freedom of choice and this is an abosolute nono in the k.h.

Do you do any volunteer/community service work?

i'm currently considering getting involved in some volunteer/community service type work.. any of you all do any kind of community/volunteer work that is fun and rewarding?

once a month i go to the nursing homes to try and make the elderly smile. once a month i go to women's shelters to bring them food and clothes. once a month i go to men's shelters to do the same thing. i also make it a point to send out birthday cards to the members who also help me in this endeaver of serving. isn't this what Jesus wanted us to do. help those who are less fortunate. you know, i never used to do this when i used to be a member of the j.w.'s. i serve mankind more now than i ever did before. serving is better than just standing on a street corner holding up a watchtower or awake magazine and at the same time clocking your time. serving is way better than leaving some old watchtower magazines in a laundramat or in a hotel lobby.
