FAITH: accepting what you are told.....without question!
by Terry infaith: if we adopt it as a way of accepting what we are told.... would investigating what we are told be a lack of faith?.
when i was 20 years old i was instructed to refuse induction into the armed forces.
privately, i was instructed to not accept the legal alternative: alternate service (work in a hospital as a non-combatant conscientious objector.).

No, they tell that you do but you don't. When you have doubts, even as a kid, you are told that there is no other way. When my young cousins got baptized, I voiced that I thought they were too young. I was asked why and what other option did they have?
Its very much like 'The Village', ever seen it?

I'm going poo-less
by rebel8 inno, this is not my annual march colon cancer awareness thread!*.
a certain poo-less poster here has inspired me to stop using shampoo.. according to various hippie types, shampoo forces your scalp to produce extra oils and it takes a while to adjust.
sudsing detergents are bad for the environment too.. plus they have carcinogens and flying spaghetti monster knows i don't need any more of those.. so....have you gone poo-less?.

ROFL @MidwichCuckoo...still trying to catch my breath.
I experimented with several all natural shampoos and it seems like they all stripped the protein from my hair and made my hair dry and hard. Sometimes, I'll just rinse my hair with conditioner instead actually shampooing it, especially after a sweaty workout.

JW christmas is just round the corner... ugh!
by MisfitMeL inyeah so the memorial is getting closer.. and even though my mum knows i am not attending the meetings, she keeps staying i should at least attend the memorial.... coz it's like special.. no idea how to get myself out of it.
everytime she brings up the topic over the phone, i just mumble and say stuff like, yeah but i finish work late... i dunno where the kh is out here etc etc.
i don't know why jws treat the memorial like it's christmas.

They dont make it seem special: they don't take the day off
I used to take the day off...used to use a float day for it...then one day a JW woman in my congo asked why I did that and said I treated it like a "worldly" holiday and made a big fuss about it in the congregation even though I would spent the morning out in service...there's no winning with them.
They put the "Z" in crazy and the "K" in wacko...

Hilarious..I would do something like this before I stood outside holding a sign.
I still remember when a bible study brought several members of their very Catholic family...they ALL partook...people still talk about that and the elders would use that to remind everyone to tell invites NOT to partake.

Par. 12: In imitation of both Christ and the great "cloud of witnesses" who preceded him, true Christians proudly use God's name. (Heb. 12:1) In fact, in the year 1931, God's servants became even more closely identified with Jehovah by accepting the name Jehovah's Witnesses. (Read Isaiah 43:10-12.) Thus, in a very special sense, Christ's true followers became a ‘people who are called by [God's] name.”
So what about these folks, they've accepted the name Jehovah too:

How do you?
by Heartbreaker inhow do you read the board?
is it always by active topics....or perhaps all of the political threads first?
do you search for items you posted on to see if there are replies?.

Typically, I check the active topics first to see what catches my attention. Then I check out the members only\private discussion area. Every now and then I will check specific sections.
