I have more spirituality and joy in my life now than I ever did as a JW.
Same here.
i just read the nov 15, wt - what a laugh.. so they admit some leave over their teachings and then they say there's no where else to go.
what a joke - they are liars.. .
was it a problem with a teaching?.

6 For example, our employer may offer us a promotion with better pay and other benefits. Or perhaps we realize that we can obtain greater financial rewards if we move to another country or region to find employment. At first, such opportunities might seem to be a blessing from Jehovah. But before we act on them, should we not examine our motives? Our primary concern should be, "How will my decision affect my relationship with Jehovah?"
Oh my, , this one brought back plenty of memories. I say take the money and run!!! I know so many JWs that honestly think the only reason a JW should relocate is to assist with an ill relative or to serve where the need is greater, I'm not joking. If you relocate simply for work, then you are either chasing riches, trying to find a way to leave the org, looking for a way to commit fornication, etc. If you are not relocating due to sickness (yours or someone else) or spiritual goals, then you are not putting Jehovah first. Thats one of the reasons why you have 40-year-old JW single adults living at home with their parents. Pathetic!!!
I agree with Mary, they tell you not pursue financial opportunities but yet they want you to consistently donate money.
brother at our kh last night reveiwed the annual meeting.. nothing earth shattering but went on about how the gb was really being "transparent" and showing who they are and how they think.
that they are people just like us!
they have apparently been pondering the bs change for "years" in order to provide more time for the essential 'family study night" - so much for gas prices suddenly increasing.
JWs will try this for a month, maybe 2, then it will be dropped and forgotten just like ("worldy") New Year's resolutions.
This is exactly what will happen. Then after about 6 months of enjoying an extra free night, folks will start to realize other\better ways to spend their time and then start skipping out on the theo\service meeting as well.
In regards to the gleening, I thought things were only in full harvest outside of first world countries. I know several JWs that are putting in yheir letter to go to the annual meeting next year. I didn't know that you could ask for an invite.
i was just talking with a woman i know in nj and she said that 30 years ago the jws used to come to the door all dressed up but now the women come in slacks and she's even had some come to her door in "nice" jeans!
she said that you can tell it's jws, not mormons, because the mormons won't wear jeans out in their ministry.. i've never heard of this at all.
around here in ohio, everyone still dresses up.
It's so strange to look in my closet now, all my husband's suits and all of my long floral skirts and sweater sets just hanging there.
no more kool aid,
Sounds like a GREAT reason to go shopping!! After I was inactive for several months I noticed how "sanctified" my closet looked. Can you say "Salvation Army"? I donated nearly everything.
most of us often wonder with amazement how we ever got caught up in the jehovah's witnesses mind control after having been out for awhile.
and we still wonder how some of our relatives stay trapped inside it.
well, steve hassans book " releasing the bonds " explains briefly in chapter 4 how it can happen.
I was basically born-in. My mom got dunked when I was 5. I knew it wasn't the truth and even told the elders that when I was a teenager. But then I got baptized 'just in case' at 16 not really realizing what the heck I was doing. Not sure which category I fit into. My mom got in probably because she wanted friends. They had recently relocated to new area hundreds of miles away from their home town and then all of a sudden these ladies started showing up at our door.
BTW, I was flipping through the channels and caught a few minutes of Steve Hassan on E!

I've known of JW women to wear pantsuits to the bookstudy with the reasoning that they didn't have time to go home and change. However, that was put to an end when it started to spread after a few weeks. Anyway, I'm not inclined to believe that folks, in this country at least, are wearing jeans in their preaching work.
you, governor palin, have said that you would like to see a real clear plan for an exit strategy.
12) ifill: let's talk conventional wisdom for a moment.
but even more important is that world view that i share with john mccain.
I wondered how many folks actually realized that she didn't answer most of the questions but simply jumped back to a topic that had nothing to do with the question being asked. I'm not a fan.
well, at least according to quantcast:.

i am curious where the site gets its data, though.
I thought it would be higher. I think there was another site that said it was like 85%, which seems more accurate to me, didn't have college education.
i was out hiking in the woods of northern california in the late 80's with a good friend.
at that time, i thought it was cool to just sleep under the stars and enjoy the outdoor experience to the full.
one night, while camping at a lake that was far up in the mountains and had no one else there, but the two of us (was not a broke back mountain moment, sorry to those who might have wondered .
I think Hollywood has told us what Spacemen are and we think that is what travelers would look like. What if, the idea of travel in their interaction with us was just some simple thought we all would overlook or feel board with. We want the glamor of Hollywood style space battles and of course all those alien visitations. Maybe they are watching us, in the same way we watch a third world nation fall apart and trying to learn from it and not make the same mistakes. Maybe we are a zoo?
free2beme,
I totally agree and also I don't think we are alone in the universe. The universe is larger than most human minds could even begin to comprehend. At the risk of sounding crazy, I believe that there are alien civilizations far more advanced than ours. Sometimes I wonder if we're one of their experiments. As a side note, I've met or seen a few folks and wondered if they were aliens.
