There were plenty of Elderettes that were not even elder's wives. They were old crotchity sisters that would have been "mothers of the church" had they been in another religion. They thought they ran things, including the elders. They were ignorant and irritating. They didn't like me and I didn't like them.

lascivious governing body
by possible-san init is said that jehovah's witnesses will learn about "oral sex" again in the next watchtower study although i do not know well.. i think that the governing body is really foolish.. why do 3 years old children need to study such an obscene word with adults?.

I remember a public talk one visiting elder gave at our KH when I still lived at home that was XXX-rated. It was sooooo detailed. He talked about everything from mutual masturbastion to oral sex to how single sisters really, really want some. He then went on to explain "how it feels to have a man enter inside you" and "what it feels like to enter a woman", because if the singles folk knew then this would take away any curiosity. Please know that I am NOT exaggerating. You could here a pin drop on the carpet in the KH. Everyone was on the edge of their chairs. I've never seen teenagers be so attentive at the KH. The older sisters looked absolutely horrified.
He actually started the talk off saying that it was going to be very graphic. But the disclaimer was that "the world" is very direct with our young folks and single folks, then he would be just as direct. I remember wondering how many brothers were getting "excited" during the talk.
Anyway, whenever I go home for a visit someone from the old congo always brings up the XXX-rated talk and wonders what happened to the older brother that gave it.
And for the record, as a pre-teen and teen, it was very uncomfortable to go through the Family book in the Bookstudy on the chapter that talks about what where babies come from, what sex is and how its done.

Did You Hate Going In Service???
by minimus ini really thought it was a stupid waste of time!
especially weekend mornings and holidays..

No, I liked it and often looked forward to it. I enjoyed talking to people about diverse topics. Even though I was a long-time pioneer, I wasn't big on placing literature but actually talking with people. I would hold an half-hour conversation and not even to try place a thing. I was often criticized for that and asked why my placements were not higher. However, I never had a car trunk or basement full of old literature either.

The Reason Why Jehovah's Witnesses Have No Real Hope
by minimus inthe majority of witnesses were taught that the end was just around the corner, that millions now living will never die.
they believed that this generation would by no means pass away until all things were fulfilled within their lifetime.. jehovah's witnesses were suckered!
they bought into everlasting life and never dying.

They don't know what to believe. Many claim that the end is right around the corner but say things like "Even if the end doesn't come in my lifetime.". Yes, they have started to say this. This VERY common among late 30-somethings and older that were raised in the organization. Many no longer believe they will see it in their lifetime.

As a JW Did you Feel you Could Fully Trust the Elders ?
by flipper ini know for many of the 44 years i was in the jw cult from birth - i felt i could.
or should i say i was conditioned to feel that " i should " trust the elders.
as jehovah's witnesses we were all told the elders were " crags in a waterless country " who would be a " spiritual stronghold " for us.

How many JW's left after the 1925 debacle?
by middleman ini'm very interested to see how many left because the "proclaimers" book said it was very few.
it's my understanding that there were over a third that left but i'm not sure of this figure.
if anyone has this info it would be much appreciated-hopefully with a source for verification.

Interesting comment by a JW regarding the new schedule
by wha happened? ina buddy of mine who is still serving and doesn't treat me like a leper was chatting with me about the new bookstudy arrangement and the meetings in general.
he stated that the way the parts are set up now, that simply winging the answers from the km or other study material, is next to impossible.
he went on to state that he understood that the society is pushing for more pre-study.. at the risk of sounding bad, are there any thoughts on a push to get rid of the fence sitters?.

No offense intended, but is your buddy, er, mentally challenged? The material is as elementary and simple as ever.
Exactly.

Are most Jehovah's Witnesses zealous, fence sitters,or going thru the motions?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthere are close to 7 million baptised jehovah's witnesses in the world.
most start off real zealous in meeting attendance and preaching work.
some remain zealous but most cool off sooner or later.

Based on the congregations I've been in over the years. I would say about 80% are going through the motions and 10% fence sitters. The zealous group, 10%, is quite small but does the bulk of the work. However, even many them are phantoms when it comes to their ministry. Ha, the service numbers are so inflated. If the org only knew how many aux and reg pioneers and publishers pad (more like super-cushion) their timeslips.

You're not missing anything especially if you're a true traveler. Plus the trips are waaaaaay overpriced if you ask me. Its better to take the option that allows you to arrange your own air travel. However, if you do this you cannot participate in the "airport welcome" even if you are on the same plane with a ton of other JWs. This is only for those that bought the full package instead of land-only. You actually get tags that identify which option you purchased. Its crazy....ha...you can't even get a ride back to the airport on the bus even if they have extra seats.
Its basically a bunch of old couples, wanna be CO's and their wives, and a TON of single pioneer sisters (many with emotional and esteem issues) looking for a husband. They do not attract many single brothers. You're stuck to someone else's schedule which totally sucks. Just so you know, it is not a vacation. You typically get 1 free day. Depending on where folks will be going this summer for international conventions, it will cost about $3500 per person. And yes, many do use it as status symbol.
