  perusing craigslist looking for someone to rent out part of my house, i came across the posting cited below.

  does anyone think that highlighting their jw affiliation in the heading actually helps their cause??.

  they also included separate face photos of themselves.

  Their pics make them look like hip witnesses. Just seems like an odd arrangement. And odder to post on Craigslist.

  I agree with you now, and yeah, that type of living arrangement is discouraged among the JWs. But why post on Craigslist? When you're budget is tight, usually you just put the word out in your local congo and you can find an overpriced property some JW wants to rent out. They must not be regular pioneers and must not have family in the JWs.

  Supposedly JWs are more honest and decent than your average person. Maybe they think some one will offer them an incredible deal based on that theory.

  How Many Here Have Done Extensive Research While a JW or When Exiting?

  i loved research.

  i used to pride myself in my knowledge of different watchtower society info, especially organization procedure.

  so i always enjoyed digging into facts.

  Did thorough research while in from a JW perspective and could thoroughly explain all things JW, except JW history. That very same research assisted my exiting the org. The first thing I researched was the history of JWs but from non-JW sources. From there the lunacy of this religion became apparent.

  Then came the obsession with books and documentary dealing with the bible, God,Christ, religion and cults. Now that I know its all a crock, the obession is gone.

  The one thing keeping me from total atheism/theism

  i hate riding the fence.

  if someone asked me right now if i believed in a creator (or creators), i would still say i don't know, in spite of everything i know about current science.. what's my hangup?

  I'm in the same boat as Easyrider but identify as agnostic. Sometimes, seriously, I wonder if our universe is trapped in a black hole because you know what they say "out of sight, out of mind".

  Yoga

  i started doing yoga regularly about 2 months ago.

  i have yet to float or have an out of body experience.

  but i do feel more "centered" and have greater flexibility.. anyway, yoga is not allowed as a jw.

  aSpereisnotaCirlce - Yoga definitely helps with back pain. Still have yet to try Hot Yoga...heard it has an interesting smell.

  SPAZnik - Thanks for the tips. I've tried several instructors and think I'm getting closer to "floating". It takes lot to slow down the mind.

  ninja - Any flavor of yoga is good for you.

  FadeOut - There are some JW articles that have some very wrong and very crazy information on Yoga. There is one where a boy "got a demon" while doing yoga in a gym class. At least you're not passing this bad info on anymore.

  annalice - So many people do Yoga and don't even know it. There was class called "Stretching for Back Relief" that some JWs attend occassionally that gave rave reviews. When they shared some of the "stretches" they learned and how to "breath into it"...I remember thinking, "This is yoga." So as long as its not called yoga, then it becomes acceptable to them.

  i guess obama didn't get the memo from the governing body regarding higher education.... it is our responsibility as lawmakers and educators to make this system work.

  but it is the responsibility of every citizen to participate in it.

  and so tonight, i ask every american to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training.

  Yeah, there are a couple of JW connection sites. There were articles in the KM several years ago and even special letters read to the congos to stay away from such sites because they are frequented by non-JWs and DF'd folks. Someone in my sisters congo dated a JW she met on a JW site like that and supposedly he turned out to crazy (not sure of the details).

  I looked at a few of the profiles of folks in my area, didn't know any of them. But I'll pass too. I'm done living the lie.
