The problem is, the entire bible is a house of cards. If you study it with an open mind, and I mean NO preconceptions, you'll discover an almost endless supply of questions without answers. I guess that's one of the reasons most people need a pre-packaged religion to explain it to them.

in which i said.... this is strange, i read that in 1995 they did away with the "generation" teaching, yet the official watchtower website still says this, over 12 years later !.

thus, all the features of the last days must take place within the lifetime of one generation, the generation of 1914. so some people who were alive in 1914 will still be alive when this system comes to its end.

I guess they're cleaning up their loose ends.

Not as efficient as the Ministry of Truth in '1984', but eventually they do get around to rewriting their history. Eventually no one will even remember anything different was taught.

I believe spirituality should be unique to each individual.

A label, like "christian", tells me next to nothing about the person it's referring to.

The best thing we can do is to discard the labels and create our own spiritual paths.

As soon as I tell you I'm "_________", you start making assumptions about me.

More Evidence that "666" refers to United Nations

a new book claims that the number 666 refers to the united nations through the name "haaretz haqaturim", which means "the nations of the united ones.

JCanon...I appreciate the effort you're making, but do you honestly think that anyone will ever make sense of the book of revelation?

It's an interesting mental excercise, but it seems to me that the entire bible lacks the internal consistency it would need to make sense.

IMHO, that's why every christian denomination picks and chooses what it wants to believe.

If it helps someone sleep better at night knowing their christion beliefs are "correct", then it's OK with me.

can't quote word for word, but at the dc this friday, the last talk given, the speaker actually said "not to question the faithful and discreet slave" and everybody around me was eating it up like it was cake.

my insides were churning when that guy said that crap.. and the funny thing is that if i hadn't been reading this board, reading the evilomg!

apostate literature they 'warned' us not to, then i would have been feeling guilty for my doubt, for my lack of faith, for being different, and all the rest of that crap.
