Elders School 2010/11

had some fun recently talking to an elder i know and he mentioned about the elders school he would be going to in december.

you should have seen his face when i said i bet he was looking forward to the new elders manual that he would be getting...

When I went back in the 60s, it lasted a month. We worked on the farm half of each day. It was in October and the trees were beautiful in upstate New York where the school was located. One of the brothers had flown an airplane from New Mexico and took some of us on a flight over the finger lakes on the week end. It was beautiful there. I can't remember the name of the place the farm was located but one of the NASCAR race tracks is near there. We could hear them racing on the track when we were out in service in the country.

I enjoyed going. Can't remember any of the classes we took but remember working on the farm. We picked apples, grapes and harvested something out in the fields, I think it was potatoes. A tractor dug them up and we put them in bags. They made their own cheeze, had turkeys, cows, chickens and I don't remember what else they raised to feed the bethelites at Brooklyn.

I met N. Knorr there and didn't like his attitude at all.

I was a born in third generation JW. It used up half of my life but I have some good memories with my family back then.

Where are the answers?

also, many people want answers, i doubt there is one single person on earth who hasn't questioned life and our purpose, and the idea of living just to die is nothing to feel free over...in fact the idea of nothingness and no answers is a prison i don't want to visit, and that is abusive in itself.. this was copied from a previous post.. i'm getting depressed over trying to find the real answers to life and the reason we are here.

i've read the bible but there is nothing to prove any of it to be actual facts.

I'm getting depressed over trying to find the real answers to life and the reason we are here. I've read the bible but there is nothing to prove any of it to be actual facts. If it is true God sure does change his actions and views as time goes by. I've been a JW, gone to other churches and it all seems to be however some religious person explains the supposed writtings of some prophet or chosen human by God.

Some say we should talk with God in prayer, but it's not talking with God it's talking to God. I've never heard him talk back yet. Some claim he talks to them, like Quest on this board. Why would he only talk to only one person here?

Do you think maybe I've sinned against the holy spirit and can never be forgiven? I guess when I'm roasting in hell I'll find the answers, or maybe just be going back to dust.

If Jehovah was Jesus he died and gave himself to himself as a sacrifice so he could forgive man for eating a fruit, and if you don't believe this he will cook you in a fire where you can never get done.

Does he add a little Bar-B-Que sauce so you will smell good while cooking?

being very interested in psychology i read a book as a teenager and re-read it last year called " gestalt therapy verbatim " by frederick perls m.d.

it deals with dreamwork therapy in which he conducted seminars helping people to re-connect with subconscious parts of themselves by recounting their dreams .

I had one last night that got to me. I dreamed that I lost my mind and went bonkers and was fighting everyone and everything around me. When I woke up I had to lay there a while to see if I really had my right mind. I've got a lot of financial problems right now and it is stressing me out.

An old JW that I knew years ago came by

i came home and an old jw (and her family) that i knew when i was a kid came by to give me some old handbills that she found.

they had my name, my brothers name and my cousins name(he's dead now)on them.

her sister has altimers now and she is living with her.

I came home and an old JW (and her family) that i knew when I was a kid came by to give me some old handbills that she found. They had my name, my brothers name and my cousins name(He's dead now)on them. Her sister has Altimers now and she is living with her. Both of their husbands are dead. I remembered the public talk I gave back then, well just the name. "The March of World Powers in Prophecy." It was in 1961. I remember going to Asheboro NC to give them this talk. It's 50 miles from here.

Her dad died at an assembly there in 1958, I was there when it happened. I have some pictures of her and her sister on a ferry when they were going to an assembly in St. Louis, MO. with my parents and grandma back in the 40s. We used to meet in her parents home back in the 40s. We didn't have a KH back then. It brought back some old memories.

She told a story about my mom calling on this home where the shrubs were above the porch and she couldn't see the door so she went to the end of the porch and walked over to the door and knocked. She didn't see the reaf of flowers untill after she knocked. The lady came to the door crying because her husband had died the night before, my mom said she came by to discuss the bible but would come back some other time. The lady said it would be OK. She gave her a handbill and told her it had a massage on the back from the bible that would give her comfort. She told the ones in the car and they asked if she had read the back of the handbill. She said no. They told her it said,"Does the bible say that hell is hot." She wanted to go back and get the handbill.

a lady was telling my wife about finding a blood card, along with credit cards, debit cards and some other stuff in the snow outside the post office.

She called the JW to come over and get her stuff. When she got there she apologized for not giving her a reward for giving it back, she didn't have any money. The lady told her she didn't want any money, she wanted to make sure she got her stuff back.

See how bad worldly people are. Of course there are worldly people who wouldn't have given it back.
