I have three children and used disposable for all...I saw my sister and her experience with the cloth. It just looked like alot of work for a minimum benefit. Plus I did notice alot of rashes. With her second child she went disposable. I think it depends on you and your time..Maybe with your first child it will be easier...depends also if you get an easygoing baby or one that is demanding...

Cloth Diapers
by reneeisorym inso .. my husband and i are going to start trying for kids next year.
we had a long discussion last night about disposable diapers vs. cloth diapers.
i know this decision can wait but i just like talking about my expectations early rather than end up with conflict later on.. i want to use cloth diapers and he thinks disposables are the way to go.

What was your first car?
by nicolaou inmine was an old fiat 127, i bought it 1983 and it was at least fifteen years old then!
the seats were vinyl and there were no rear seatbelts so i could send my girlfriend and her sister flying with each bend in the road!
it wouldn't go above 55mph and was rattling like rollercoaster when it finally got there.. the rear window fell out and it finally croaked in puff of blue/black smoke.

My Belief in a Higher Power But Not in any Organized Religion

i feel i've been out of the witness organization long enough to have developed some pretty good idea of what my beliefs are now in regards to a higher power and organized religion that i felt comfortable to share it with you , my friends here on jwd.
i respect you all have your takes, religious and non- religious, but just wanted to share a little of myself with you folks , wondering if any of you have felt what i feel.

I do not believe in organized religion as we see it now. Right now I question everything. I often think about the likeliness that I would be a Muslim, Hindu, Jew, Buddhist had I been born in a different country. All with their sacred books. Is the Bible absolute infallible truth? I don't think so. I choose to follow Jesus example of Christian living because I think it's beneficial. Whether he was the son of God??? I don't know. You see there is nothing I know with 100% certainty. As far as God, I tend to think there is a creator. Now as far as how much involvement he has with our lives is a different ballgame. Have you heard of Pasquale's wager??? I probably lean more towards belief in God than no belief. But trying to figure out these things in life is part of the fun in my opinion. Maybe that is our quest in life...

1977 Volkswagen Bug. Turquoise..I was 15 when I bought it and my mom lent me the money. I payed her back in monthly installments. Drove it back and forth to school...I loved my bug!!!!!

Did being raised as a witness make you smarter?

i've seen a few "post your iq" or other test topics on the forums here.
if people are even close to truthful with their score i would guess the average iq would be ~125, quite possibly higher.

I think most people will agree that there is a correlation between reading and developing your intelligence. As JW's we're encouraged to read probably more than most people at an early age. To study with our children, read to them from the bible story or great teacher books..All this encourages reading..Now a whole other ballgame is emotional intelligence. I believe there are 7 (?) types of intelligence altogether..So the one that is measured on IQ tests is just a portion.....

and give yourself a break. Don't be so hard on yourself...everything is a process. You aren't going to know all the answers and feel comfortable in your new situation over night...it's o.k. to take your time and really think about your values, beliefs, future...just try to stay positive and remember this stage is temporary. You will find your own way in life and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that it really is "your" way and not someone else telling you how to think....hang in there....

I know one thing that has helped me alot besides a couple of great friends to give some sound perspective, is really not giving so much importance to the "purpose". As jw's we're raised to really always concentrate on the end result. But actually the journey is the reward. Instead of seeing it as a negative thing, try to see all the new opportunities and possibilities available to you now. Make a list of all the things you wanted to do and still want to do and try to make steps to achieve those goals. Live your life today. I think that's the most difficult concept to grasp once you are out. But once you do let go of the necessity to have that "Purpose" driving you, it's very liberating.

Sexless Marriages Could Threre Be a Direct Link by Being Raised JW?

the first time i married a girl who was also raised a jw, sex was great when we first got married but after a couple of years it almost completely stopped.
the marriage did not last much longer i thought it was because we just grew apart and i became uninterested.

I think what you describe is a common problem among couples jw or not...I agree with the advice here that sex is actually something you have to work on...Try to be more spontaneous. Monotony can kill sex life. Try new things. Get away. If those things don't work, then maybe you should go to counseling with wife.
