I'm always leaving my kids in the car. ha! But I've become an expert with the slim jim I have in the back hidden under the bumper. It's been said I could make a killing if I changed professions.

I can laugh about it today, but....
by delilah inyesterday was a crazy day!!
i woke up with a wicked migraine, took my meds, and went to work.
at noon, i took my husband to work and it was snowing like crazy...so i drove slowly...as i turned the corner, in the country, my car started to slide, and we did a complete circle, coming very close to hitting a hydro pole.

What was the real reason why you joined the 'truth'?
by lfcviking inif you came out of the world (like myself), what was the main motivation why you joined/got baptised?.
was you genuinely disillusioned with the world and all of its badness and wanted real answers to why it was so?.
was you honestly convinced the world would one day be made into a paradise and wanted to be part of it?.

Well I was born in..so no real desicion there. But after a brief period of inactiveness I would say two major reasons for coming back.
1-redeem myself from years of bad living. Penitance...enough said
2-pregnant and thought this would be the best way of raising my kids. good moral social network. answers to all their question. Funnily enough that same reason is why I ended up leaving..Go figure

If there is a God - I'm REALLY PI$$ED at him
by AWAKE&WATCHING ini've got one post for the next 14 hours so i figure i'll make it count.. when i was 21 i began to really question the state of the world.
you know- "is this life all there is, yadda yadda.
" that sort of thing.

undecided here as well.
What I am sure about is that I don't believe in the bible. If there is a God it's not the one most of us were taught. Maybe some energy source or something like that. I don't really worry too much about it. I enjoy my time here on earth. I try to make a difference in people's lives. I know many have made a difference in mine. That's how they are eternal. I cannot comprehend how a God would allow such suffering and death, so I guess I'm more inclined towards atheism. Do you really think you have to have faith in order to live better? Why? Because I feel a safety net under me? Can't say that safety net ever came through me. I guess I got used to living without it.

i recommend reading the seven spiritual laws for parents by deepak chopra. I find the things in that book are much less dogmatic and much more human than any JW book I read for kids. It teaches love, kindness, generosity, gratefullness, among other things, Don't teach religion. teach your kids to be decent humans....

This is in response to reneeismom's article....
I agree that many times people with certain traits are drawn towrads religion. People whose core values include putting family first. You can avoid the whole religious part though if you find other people like yourself who also put importance on family life. IMO opinion you could get the same results from being around other families who share similar ideas about raising children. No matter what their religious beliefs.

by sweetstuff ini know, i know, someone is going to say, there is no proof that global warming is real, or that its man-made.

Did you have any "well kept secrets" that the congregation never knew of?
by JH inwhen you gather with the same people for decades, they get to know you inside out.
they know where you work, have a good idea how much money you earn, know if you have sex or not, know your personal tastes, know where you go on vacations and so on..... were there things you were able to keep them from knowing?.

No one ever knew that I had been married briefly to a friend that I wanted to help out with his papers. Hell, even many in my family still don't know that!

This is particularly tricky for me because we still associate with my jw family alot. I basically attack issues as they come. I don't teach any religion but if something comes up that seems illogical we talk about it. I let them give there own opinions. I told them whatever religion they want to be is fine with me, but to investigate and inform themselves because you should really be convinced if you are going to be a member of something. My oldest I see tending more towrds atheism. (smart child) but the scond one is too little. He wants to be catholic sometimes I guess from peer pressure. But honestky as long as they are happy I could care less.
