Not very hardcore. Never had a great field service record. Missed alot of meetings. I guess more o the fringes. But Although I didn't believe 100% I still wanted to be part of the club. And I was born into it. Family is very hard core. Guess that's probably why I kept trucking along so many years......

How hardcore?
by 4mylove ini've slowly found out that my hubby was a great big jw in his active days.
he's been inactive now for about 5 years.
he has only attended 1 memorial and one assembly recently to supposedly appease his father that came into town to have to drive 1.5 hrs to attend the one in our area.

Your All Time Favorite Song- If You Had to Pick Just One ?
by flipper ini decided to do a couple fluff threads tonight as my threads have been way too deadly seroius lately !
so if someone told you to pick one song that was your all-time favorite, what would you pick ?
i'd have to say for me it has not changed since the 1971 hit by led zeppelin, " stairway to heaven ".

Inner Peace
by JH indo you feel more inner peace now or when you were serving as a jw?.
no matter if the teachings were wrong, or not exact, i had more inner peace when i was "in".. i remember when i got operated for a hernia, and had to be put asleep, while i was a jw in good standings.
i knew that god would resurrect me if ever something went wrong, and i didn't wake up from the operation.. today if i had to undergo an other similar operation, i'm not sure i'd have the same inner peace.. i think that no matter what religion you practise, no matter if it's false or not as false, you develop this inner peace, that may only be an illusion..

I know exactly what you mean. I went on a trip by bus and normally I would have probably felt pretty sure that I would be protected by Jah, but of course that's not the case now. So my safety net (which was only in my head anyways) has vanished into thin air.....yeah it's a bit unsettling. Guess I'll just have to get used to it.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES RULES, RUINED JA RULE'S CHILDHOOD
by WTNightmare00 inrap star ja rule blames his familys jehovahs witness roots for ruining his childhood.. .
the im real hitmaker reveals he was never allowed to celebrate birthdays or christmases growing up - and even playing with other children was a problem for his strict grandparents, who helped raise him.. .
as a result, the rapper, real name jeffrey atkins, goes overboard when his children celebrate birthdays and special occasions.. .

You know just because someone was a JW before and now is apostate or whatever does not automatically make them merit my respect.
I am all for successful ex jw's but cmon people..Who are we applauding here?

Is the "My Book of Bible Stories" appropriate reading for Little Ones?
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy little boy, aged 4 1/2 loves his bedtime stories, and also loves "jesus stories" as he calls them... .
now, i have never gotten around to going to a book store and actually buying a childrens bible story book from the shops (yes...i still have a bit of a mental block and some deep seated issues about any religious literature).
my mom gave my kids a copy of the bible story book, as well as listening to the great teacher (the new soft cover book - think it is called that?

I remember reading to my kids from the book but at one point I noticed everyone in the end was being stoned to death or dying as punishment for sins.....so I just started telling my kids the bible stories from my head. The nice ones. Like Jacob and Rachel and putting some romantic twist on it. I made it like a mexican soap opera with voices and everything...my kids would be laughing till they cried....but in the end they were just stories to them. Like any others. The book is too violent, but there are some salvageable stories in there. Just like in christian anderson stories. Some of those are pretty violent too. or brothers grimm. Hell, if we banned stories for violence, which of those classics would survive?

So, you're in love with someone that you're not compatible with ....
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inperhaps it was "love at first sight", but then you get to know him/her more intimately and realize your goals and amitions couldn't be further apart.
not that he/she isn't a good person ... just not right for you.
the physical attraction is real, but issues that are important to you pale into insignificance in his/her mind.

Does the good outweigh the bad? You know you can't have it all, but if the feeling that something is missing then that's probably true and if it's a big enough something, then let the relationship go. I'd rather have no love than a mediocre love any day.

I can laugh about it today, but....
by delilah inyesterday was a crazy day!!
i woke up with a wicked migraine, took my meds, and went to work.
at noon, i took my husband to work and it was snowing like crazy...so i drove slowly...as i turned the corner, in the country, my car started to slide, and we did a complete circle, coming very close to hitting a hydro pole.

I'm always leaving my kids in the car. ha! But I've become an expert with the slim jim I have in the back hidden under the bumper. It's been said I could make a killing if I changed professions.
