one of my happiest childhood memories was crouching next to the pond at the famed japanese tea garden in san francisco, mesmerized by the brilliantly colored carp swimming slowly beneath the water lilies.

There is just way to much out there to look at, to ponder on, theories both old and new that prompt my mind to delve deeper. As I have said in other postings, I have no clear answers, so much unproven.. I wish I had the time to devote my entire life to studying everything out there.. but in the meantime, I very much enjoy the time I do have to investigate and ponder more on life.

My old congregation was a pedophile haven, with unbaptized attendees to a ministerial servant! It's a easy place to hide out for anyone inclined in these behaviors.. hard to have 2 witnesses! And when bible teachings teach that anything out of the marriage arrangement is fornication, not many young people/children are going to feel safe speaking out. As their conscience tells them from what they have been told that they are "bad". Sadly it takes maturity in most cases to bring this about. And so.. the cycle continues!

Anything is possible! What is an alien anyhow? Likely not the scary little critters we see in sci fi movies. Nothing yet has been proven, but I myself believe it is extremely unlikely that we humans here on earth are so special. and are the only other living beings in the universe. Much has been written during the history of man that could all be myth or not in reference to "aliens" or visitors not of this planet. It is all very interesting, but as of yet, no proof! But then how much in life, do we have absolute proof about?

My Theory
by Princess Daisy Boo ini have had this theory for a very long time and i would like to hear what everyone has to say about this.. i think that people are either inherantly religious or not.
if they are inherantly religious, then the wtbts will naturally apeal to them, all the deep in depth study and the bible analysis and so on.
they feel the need to look to a higher source for fulfilment.. and then there are those that are not inherantly religious... the ones the prefer to concentrate on the here and now.

Interesting theory! Although I cannot define myself as belonging to any particular belief structure, I do love the hunt for more knowledge, from every angle out there. And very much enjoy the thought process that goes along with this hunt. Many people truly dont care, they are very content to live their life in the moment without taking a look at the greater picture of things, involving religion, history ect. Either or, there is nothing wrong with either type. I'm obviously one of those "need to know" people.. with all the information out there.. most is unproven.. I love to ponder all that which is unproven..

Could the WTBTS get JWs to kill?
by serotonin_wraith ini'm not saying those in power would even contemplate doing this, but i wonder just how far jws would go to obey their leaders.
would they go as far as to kill, if they thought god had given that message to 'his people'?.
it would probably take years of subtle changes in their message so that it didn't come as a big shock.

Yes I believe so! I also believe that any fanatical religion that has absolute power over their members has the ability to direct their followers to OBEY, because they DO believe the instructions are coming from God.
As well, as others have posted.. they do kill from not administering blood, (my youngest brother needed blood at 3 years old to live) he would have died if not for the medical association taking over.
Killing is also done by brainwashing techniques, those who never escape mentally and only physically from the organization often kill themselves from inner beliefs. This is murder in my mind. I agree though, that it is not only the JW religion that creates this.

other than, i don't lie or cheat or steal or even kill anyone else!

Very well put Miniums! I live by my moral standard, but much has been shaped by the society I live in, ignoring the JW society. If I grew up in another country, I would likely also have a different view on what might be moral. I do pride myself though on being open minded, so that is a start to understanding human morality and lifestyles, where it comes from, why its imposed, and basically just go from there.
It is a great topic to ponder on the greater picture of things!
