Have you ever researched your family history, any tips?
by restrangled ini have been researching on and off and just started up again for my dad.
i've gotten back to 1869 and could get further, but all i run into is adds to pay on line companies.
has anyone ever subscribed or used one of these out fits.

Ancestry dot.com is great! I have a family member who has written a book on one line of the family that reaches far back into France. Kind of cool to see family names, you know nothing of, but belong to you online.

Perfect definition Mary! Also.. financial status was huge where I lived.. who had the nicest beach house ect. And of course.. comments from elders.. as to who was the "cream of the crop" in regards to young ones in the congregation!

What did you get told off for?
by KW13 ini wanted to become an unbaptized publisher, i'd started helping out at the congregation and i was enjoying the responsibilities that any young lad would want to get (as a jw) like doing microphones in absence of brothers and occasionally while they were there as well, before my friends who weren't making 'progress'.. anyway, i went for my unbaptized publisher goal and i got there in the end - making the truth my own, but i was held back by a month or two because some clowns reported me for swearing and a few other things and i have a feeling that was stepdad and/or some of my so called friends jealous of my progress, because immediately after they all became unbaptized publishers .
so...yeah that was mine, i know people have a lot better/worse however you view it but i was so upset by that.
maybe i was swearing, maybe i wasn't at the time i can't remember but i do remember both stepdad/friends swearing on occasions.. as a really young child, i remember mum crying like she often did because she was depressed (what happened to jehoobers happy people) and around a corner outside an elder who i used to like told me it was my fault mum was upset?

Hmm well... my sweet gran found a book hidden in my dresser.. called.. "how to make love to a man". I arrived home from school.. feeling doom long before I reached my door. She had called the elders.. and I had to face them... ughhhhhhhhh!!!!! : Luckily for me, the elder that visited was the only one I liked.. and I knew he felt pity for me, and was not unkind. So much for innocent searching..

What is Your Scariest Experience in Life?
by R.F. ini'd have to say mine was when i was at the wee age of 8.. my siblings and i were out swimming with some friends and their parents.
what i remember mostly was that i got seperated very quickly from the rest of the group and drifted into the deeper end.
i found it getting more and more difficult to swim with each passing second.

It was the birth of my daughter. We had planned her.. I did everything right.. on day two of labour, an xray was done, finding my sweet baby was brow presentation.. and the cord was wrapped around her neck twice. In my small town with only one surgeon, and on the thanksgiving day weekend with everyone off, I was told when the surgeon finally arrived shortly before her cesarean birth at 2:10 thursday morning that I had to be put out immediatley.. with no time to ponder.. and have an emergency cesarean done. All I remember is, my ex standing in his gown and mask beside me, the docs all around me.. and the mask put over me to put me out.
I awoke, looking at my sweet daughter.. so life went on.. but I have never experienced such panic before or since then. Although there have been many scary experiences, this was the worst!

Do you feel out of place, a "misfit", since leaving the org?
by FreedomFrog ini seem to be "stuck" in between worlds.
the world i knew and the world i'm trying to know and learn.. are there others that feel this too?
do you ever remember feeling this way at any point?.

I totally felt like that after leaving... didn't quite fit in anywhere. Now I fit in anywhere.. but haven't quite figured out where I belong yet.
My daughter teasingly tells me I was such a nerd.. I tell her it was a case of extreme conformity.

So sorry things came to the point they did. For whatever reason a seperation is sad. There comes a time when we know changes need to happen though, and it sounds like you arrived there. Congrats on your strength to make your choice.
