Apostate Presence Rattles World Conference on Religion
by SickofLies ini know many of you probably never saw my post a few days ago inviting everyone to the world religions conference where i was a key note speaker.
i'd like to send a big thank you to kwintestal and mincan for showing and giving their support, surfice to say it made quite an impression that the three people standing up and defending atheism at the event were all ex-witnesses.
the theme for the event was on the topic of morals and modesty.

With few exceptions, I think most JWs are decent, just misguided. .
true, true, true. i see it the same way. my whole family, my sisters, my parents, friends... all of them are nice ppl and i love them much. its just the twisted religion who controls their minds and let them think showing hate is showing love. its sad, but many of not most of them are good ppl.

God cannot break his own laws!
by LtCmd.Lore inwhether or not he has actually done so is tangential to this topic.. my question is: why does the wts seem to think that god cannot break his own laws?.
there was recently a co at our hall, he was talking about religious stuff as they usually do.
but he said that the old saying: "with god, all things are possible.

Interesting thread Lt.
One scriptural story pops to mind, in the god cannot break his own rules/make mistakes category, right away.
Noah and the ark. The biblical account, said that god regretted making man, hence the flood. So, god who is perfect, and cannot break his own rules, gave mankind a chance at redemption after Adam and Eve screwed up, then took a hissy fit, with the people of Noah's day, regretted making them, and poof, wiped them all out, then he says, he'll never destroy all living things again, oh wait, yeah, armageddon, he'll just destroy all the wicked people, same thing, different method perhaps? Isn't that sort of like bending the rules?
And I always found it funny that the bible never says god regretted making the angels after they came down to earth and bonked the local chicks, yet he regretted making man. Double standard or what? LOL Now thats one to wrap your head around...the angels in heaven, were jealous of fleshly passion and wanted in on the action. Guess heaven isn't all its cracked up to be right?
hahaha! youre great sweetstuff :-D seriously these are some nice views. to this day i never wondered about Genesis 8:21-22 before. but yes, he told that there wont be a destruction because of mankind again. but im sure the witnesses answer to that is that he meant he wont destroy ALL animals again. in armageddon its "only" nearly all humankind. the view of god regretting making man when the angels did wrong in first place is new to me. thank you! the whole thing with the nephelim i never believed fully. is heaven such a boring place that GENDERLESS angels want to be HUMANS and OF COURSE MALES! it seems like not even one angel wanted to be a woman. women dont enjoy sex you know? its the same curiousity like god smelling burned flesh of sacrficed animals and actually "liking" it... thats what the bibles tells us... in most cases the bible story makes MUCH sense, when you think of it as an ancient religious book written by humans including their human views and ideas of the world. and nearly makes no sense at all when you label it with the god sticker. the same fits creation/evolution. that humans have the genetic blueprint for a tail in their genom isnt proof against creation, but it makes much sense from a evolutionary viewpoint. im not a evolutionist btw. im pretty much undecided. still a jw, still (below average) active, still cant see the light at the end of the tunnel.

@threadcreator:
i think you missunderstood the jw concept. its not that god cannot break his own "laws", because the laws are human laws not god laws. there are no laws for gods in the bible. what he cant break are his own principles! the biggest example is righteousness. the idea is that god cannot be unrighteous, because he dont want to, hes perfect (so he always does want he wants) and he doesnt change.
its more of a promise to man, but an inability of god. and since this promise comes from a perfect god there is no chance it will fail.
thats the mind concept.
edit:
its like when a man says "i wont ever kill my children!". he wont do that, he loves them - he doesnt want any harm to them. so in his whole lifetime he "cannot" kill his children, because he loves them. noone would even think of the possibility. but that doesnt mean that he would be practically unable to do so...

Shunning a Jehovah's Witness - They don't like it!
by jambon1 inan elder who lives nearby has decided to be play the twat with me recently.
i have been out for nearly 2 years, which makes it even more pathetic on his part.. after leaving, this character (thinking i was depressed), would give me the most tactless, thoughless advice that you have ever heard.
he loved 'giving it to me' right outside my house.

the only problem is how it looks to jw when you shun them back.
THEY obey "gods law" and what to save you from death @armageddon. what noble deeds!
YOU are a weirdo full of hate and the way you treat true christians testifies that you're controlled by satan.sounds stupid, but thats just the way it is.

i dont feel like theres any need of saying goodbye. i come here when i need it or when im bored and dont come here if i dont need im not bored :) simple, but effective.
i can easily imagine me not visiting the forum for years and come back again.
i dont like goodbye threads (at least i wouldnt make one), since the first time you usually come back is the moment when you check what the others answered to your goodbye thread. LOL! :-D

given the chance that greg just founded the true religion. i wont join because i dont trust religion anymore. time to die for me at some judgement day?

Firefox and Full Featured JWD
by freeme inhi folks!.
when you're using firefox you probably know the problem that posting here with firefox is very featureless.
but switching to ie for jwd?

I'm certainly no computer guru, but if someone does what you suggest, then that setting could easily be noticed by other users of that computer if they happen to look at the Firefox settings, correct?
ya, of course. but you dont have to put in this setting. with the addon installed you can switch back from ie and ff engine with a single click in the lower bar. the setting just makes it kinda invisible while using it :-)

Hi folks!
When you're using Firefox you probably know the problem that posting here with firefox is very featureless. But switching to IE for JWD? Nooooooooo!
Here the solution i realized not everyone is using already:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419
You can configure this addon in a way that every page will be opened with the normal firefox engine but only JWD will be opened with the IE engine in the firefox window.
just install the addon and add in the settings the pagehttp://www.jehovahs-witness.com/*
as being opened by IE Tab instead of the firefox engine (notice the asterisk).
You wont even notice it after that :-) and you have the full featured posting editor :Dfreeme

why do so many "non witness " jws not bother to find out the "truth"
by sosad inmy siblings who have left (3/7 last count) have no desire to talk about or hear about much less read about what the deal is witht the org our parents decided would bring them everlasting life.
it is head shaking to me - and i try not to bring it up at all- but when they ask, or it comes up and they are all freaked out about me being interested in it all i just shake my head.
even friends i grew up with in the org have no desire to know - they are just not interested.

@bigwilly
for me its incredible hard to understand that some ppl dont feel the urge to look behind the curtain. it feels for me like being ignorant and even somehow "dumb". dont get me wrong... its just that i couldnt leave the JWs when i would be unsure whether its right or not. i wouldnt feel honest to myself. what if its right and i go away without checking it? what about staying knowing its wrong (thats what im doing actually because of fear but i feel horrible with it when i think about it)?
before i began doubting i thought nearly all real jws are like me. wanting to know the truth wanting to know it in detail and all of them are JWs because they did not like the fuzzy way some other religions do it. not accurate not studying over and over again to prove it again and again. i thought that until i realized that noone proves and studys for real. they're reading one source and proving itself is forbidden. its only swallowing stuff other humans think is right. dont ask.
in the end its normal that most ex-jws are not interested in studying whether the jws are right or wrong... they never learned it at all. simple like that.
