ronin1 - If you're really from Florida, you'd know that Disneyland is not there - it's in California. HOWEVER, Walt Disney World is in Florida. Don't confuse the tourists anymore than we have to.

How FAST can you type?
by JH intake the test and see .
i remember in high school, i was able to type at 40 words per minute after counting my errors, and they way they counted it, if i remember well, was your total words minus the errors you made to give an approximate speed.. here is the test.
it's only a fun quiz so don't be mad if i type faster than you .

Do we have over 2000 lurkers a day?
by TheSilence inso i was bored and clicked on the little "big boards" thing at the bottom of the screen.
you can get a lot of statistical information with lots of neat graphs there that're pretty interesting.
for instance, here is 3 months of daily "unique" visitors to the site:.

Or, we're not scared; just don't have anything to add at this time.

Anyone with type 2 Diabetes?
by LyinEyes ini have been to two doctors appointments in the last 7 months and it is confirmed that i have type 2 diabetes.
i was so scared when i found out, i have had many of my family die early from that illness.
since leaving the jw's , i can say that now i finally don't have the death wish that i secretly carried with me for so many years.

I was only taking Metformin. (Didn't like what the other additional drugs threaten to do to me e.g. liver, etc.) I wasn't very good at taken meds as "religously" as I should. (Can I say that on JWD? ;) ) Anyway, my health care provider told me about Byetta (fondly called Lizard Spit) synthesized from Gila Lizard saliva. It is injected with a VERY small needle - the finger poke hurts more. My levels are now where they should be and I've cut back significantly from my Metformin. For a forum, go to http://lizardspit.blogstream.com/, and check out the comments under "We're meeting here." I haven't had any of the nausea that some people had, and I'm sticking with the lowest dose.

Does Gilead have any accreditation?
by journey-on inwhen a witness talks about someone who has "graduated" from gilead, they always make it sound like such an accomplishment as if they graduated from harvard or somethin...lol.
i know it's called the watchtower bible school of gilead and is located at the watchtower educational center in patterson, ny (sounds impressive, uh?)..
it used to be known as the watchtower bible college of gilead in south lansing, ny.. does this school have any accreditation that you know of or is it just glorified classroom training for jw "missionaries"?

It is my understanding that accreditation merely means that you teach what you say you teach and that placement is in the field of study. I came across this definition a while back when there was an article in a local newspaper that a college that taught palm reading or its ilk was credit in SW USA because their courses matched their published program and students were finding jobs as 'psychics.' My two cents worth.

Another interesting NWT corruption of extant scripture.
by oompa inyes i think rev.
22:18,19 is a good idea.
god said leave it alone.

Side note: The NWT is not the only Bible that uses brackets. For one, The Holman Christian Standard Bible. That being said, the HCSB doesn't insert [Other] in the scriptures being discussed. I've always tried to read and ignore what's in the brackets to see how, if, the meaning is changed. TC

when did "new light" teaching start. What goof was covered? What a CYA idea!
by oompa ini am so sick of jw's thinking all past errors (false teaching) are no big deal cause we have "new "light " on the matter now.
recently even my elder/dad said he wonded at times if some of our past teachings that did not pan out could be considered "false teaching!!!
" i got excited and instead of saying "duhhh", just said it seemed like it could be, and that is how/why we examine the pasts of other religions as well.

I found this article of interest. I DON'T agree with their reasoning ('adjustments' HAVE been made to previous points of view), but here it is for your enjoyment. WT 1981; Dec 1, pp 26-31 "The Path of the Righteous Does Keep Getting Brighter" /quote At times explanations given by Jehovah’s visible organization have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view. But this has not actually been the case. This might be compared to what is known in navigational circles as “tacking.” By maneuvering the sails the sailors can cause a ship to go from right to left, back and forth, but all the time making progress toward their destination in spite of contrary winds /*quote The Bible says the light gets brighter, it's not a lighthouse that blinks!! Doesn't Excel (tm) have those functions? If you use the formula bar it will ask for the parameters, then kick out the results. I haven't looked myself, but I think I remember seeing them in the list. TC
