Thanks - I have downloaded it and actually read through some of it.

Seems mostly a 'fluff piece' to me, with little 'meat'. Much harping on of 607BC. Whole thing is designed to get people to feel guilty of not doing enough in their service, and that they lead 'comfortable lives' and get an education.

Of the things I found semi-interesting though, were:

Page 167, were they take Joel 2:28-32 to - in our day - mean that all the Witnesses are "prophesying" simply by relaying what the prophet said (as the WTS interprets it). Interesting to me, because I have wondered what JWs teach about that scripture, and it's "companion" scripture in the NT (old men will dream and young men see visions). And this is what they come up with? Oh well.
Page 139: They cite one instance in the Bible where a prophet, a human, was more angry with a people than God, and that even though the prophet wanted the entire people dead, Jehovah decided to spare them. This is supposed to show the just, kind, merciful, loving and forgiving ways of Jehovah. How about the numerous occasions where the opposite was the case? Where Moses and Abraham felt they had to discuss with God, in an attempt at trying (not always successfully, but sometimes) to make him change his mind and not kill an entire people?
Page 161: (paraphrasing: ) "Just because you decided to forego education and now regret it, it would be wrong to give the advice to your children that they should get an education". Wonderful.

- Well - that's not true of course, but I thought they all (except one) looked like they saw a UFO, and thought this could be a WT issue with 'new light' on an old doctrine (they after all once did think the Pleiades was the home of Jehovah and Jesus).

i have been reading with interest the news of the next change in the generation teaching.

does anyone have any substantive proof that this change will be made?

it could be a big con to get us all excited and tell others about it and reveal that we are, wait for it, apostate!!

New light has often through history come in a talk first, usually at an assembly, and then some time later in the Watchtower (or sometimes Awake!).

maybe these things take time.

it's hard to establish new friendships when ones i had for years floated away in an instant.

I have no problem talking to people and being liked by people of all ages and both sexes at work - - - - but that seems to be the extent of it. You'd think I'd automatically get some friends out of it, but no. I once told a couple of people that I was a JW, and since I became non-active, I've only told one about that (several people are new, so I haven't thought it necessary), but perhaps there is a rumor going around that I'm a witness? At any rate, one of my problems as others have mentioned too, is that I've never been a party animal, and I really don't like drunk people or getting drunk myself. That's a pretty common pastime among my coworkers, especially at the weekends. So - I currently have no friends.

TMI? Probably.

if jws really cared about making disciples they would never use outdated ways to get their "lifesaving message" across.

knocking on doors, knowing that most people aren't at home, is simply a waste of time.

driving around from one part of town to the other side in order to stretch your time, while doing return visits is simply a way to not reach people as quickly as possible.

As free2beme mentioned, they used to use speaker-cars and radio stations to spread the news, but strangely and ironically enough they have gone in the opposite direction when it comes to using technology the closer the end gets.

If this thing really takes off so that it's noticed throughout the org., I think it will probably just make them huddle together even more closely than they've done before. Sure, a few will start to think and eventually leave, and that's great in and of itself, but I think the major reaction would be that they are now 'attacked' also from within by wolves in sheep's clothing, and that this is further proof of how very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very very, very, very, very very, very, very, very very, very, very, very very, very, very, very very, very, very, very very, very, very, very close they are to Armageddon. Did I say very? Very.

If this is an attempt at rolling in a trojan horse with a grenade in its mouth, it might work as intended, at least to some degree. If it's an attempt at actually changing the org. from within and improve it, I highly doubt it.
