Hey Quotes,
I know Jack Danley. When he "retired" as a CO, he came here to Florida, and served as an elder on my body. What a guy. In fact, I just saw him about 2 weeks ago at a restaurant. He kept looking at me trying to figure out if it was me (I have a beard now). I hadn't seen him in about 3 years. I just ignored him.
He was not real fond of me. I had to take him to task several times over not being kind and loving to the "brothers."
I was truly amazed at him. For being a CO for so long, he didn't know squat about "theocratic procedure." And here I was, much younger than him, and an elder for seven years (compared to his many years), and I had to "counsel" him for being overly judgmental and unkind.
Well, I can tell you that my "counsel" (as kind as it was) went over like a fart in Sunday school with him. He did not like a younger man counseling him at all.
Another time, we were in an elder's meeting, and he wanted to give a local needs talk in response to a young brother's actions. He wanted to mention this brother's name from the platform, which is a big legal no-no, straight from the GB. I don't remember specifically what this young brother did, but it was not serious in any way. Of course, I objected strongly, but kindly, stating that the Society had directed elders to never mention a person by name, except for DF'ing and DA'ing. So they didn't do it.
Again, it amazed me that someone of his "training" and position didn't know this basic rule, let alone knowing how cold and judgmental this would be to the person affected.
I found so much incompetence and lack of loving kindness among the older elders here in Florida that it seemed like I was constantly objecting to something they wanted to do, but was not right.
I am extremely happy to be gone, and I'm sure that they're happy I'm gone too. Now they can do their stupid stuff without any objections.
