No need to apologize, Grace. It's obvious that mine was cut and pasted while yours was typed from the source. Kinda like the difference in a cookie from a box and one made from scratch by a loving grandma. I like yours much better.

NIV
Job 1:4,5 His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom.
Job 3:1-3 After this, Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth. 2 He said: 3"May the day of my birth perish, and the night it was said, 'A boy is born!'

Thank you both, stilla and mrsjones. I must need to have my glasses prescription checked, because there were follow-up explanation articles on the story in plain view.

Heya Renegade, glad you made an appearance!
Relish the freedom of mind your mom has given you. You certainly have reason to 'rise up and bless her'. As for your desire to know what others think of religion, I think that is admirable, but you should take the gift she gave you and find your own way. There are literally trillions of things in this world for you to learn about in a lifetime. Should any of those things you learn speak back to you of God, then so be it.
You have a whole world, young padawan, dig in!

Psychological speak amongst younger minds can be interpreted by them in ways not intended and will influence some of their thinking in unknown ways. If you feel your child is an open thinker and will put to you any issues raised which give them negative waves or challenge their self esteem, maybe it could be a beneficial education. Like all things, it is down to yourselves, but If I was aware of younger people reading this stuff I'm not sure I would be as likely to post as openly as I do. So in one respect these forums can be liberating but as soon as certain parameters begin to impose themselves they lose their incisiveness IMHO.
I'm 37 and that hurt my head to read. (All in fun, RC)
If your son is mature enough to hear other kids using the coarse language of others his age and not use it himself, then he is probably old enough.
I'm not sure how old Richie Rich was when he came on, but he turned out okay.

Don't touch that please, your primitive intellect wouldn't understand things with alloys and compositions and things with... molecular structures.
Spoken by he of the never-ending chin.
Eclipse, I knew I liked you before, but now you have a true fan.

I didn't follow the link because I read about this yesterday. If its the same source as the article I read I think the best quotes from the article are (paraphrased) 'The children were told to be quiet about the incident so as to not make the situation worse for the teacher' and from a fellow teacher 'I was just impressed that she got them to vote'
