i have not been associated with the jws for many, many years.
today i had someone ask me why jws don't submit to preemployment or employment drug screening.
i had never heard this one and suspect it's some random person out there just trying to get out of taking a drug test.
I've been faded for years but have family still in and I've never heard of such a thing. My relatives that are 'in' go for medical tests all the time and have never balked at a blood draw.
I do know some witlings that say they wouldn't pee on an apostate that was on fire, maybe that's what they meant.
i filled out an application on saturday for a job, today i went for the interview, .
it went well, i go at the end of the week to meet with the regional manager to interview with him.. so it sounds promising.. its six months training for a managers position and then transfer out of state to .
i dont know where.

i've seen a few "post your iq" or other test topics on the forums here.
if people are even close to truthful with their score i would guess the average iq would be ~125, quite possibly higher.
At some of the early points of a childs development, say from the toddler stage, there is a benefit to the methods most jw's use that give their children an advantage. I've known many kids that knew all 66 books of the bible, could recite every story almost word for word out of the bible story book and make a pretty good stab at most of the names in the old testament. It needs to be said, though, that that comes from rote memorization which is shown to help with concentration, word association and eventually, reading.
If a parent or care provider that has no jw background would spend the same amount of time reading or having the child memorize words, numbers and pictures in something that has as much interest to them as witling propaganda does to witless parents, I believe that child would be just as far along in the same skills. "Okay, Tommy tonight's bedtime story is 'Mr. Jingles replaces a carburator'. Last night we learned how an internal combustion engine works. Do you remember the firing order for the spark plugs in a Chevy small block? Very good!"
It all seems to come down to willingness to spend time with a child.

And now that I think about it she would want me to go across town to her house to dig the 8 foot long tables out of her toolshed and load them into her 'service' van. To top that off she would stand off to the side of the driveway while I loaded them and berate me for not going along with her to get my cyanide fruit punch. Oh Yeah!

i have a guy at work that is a non-denominational church goer.
he really, really loves him some jesus.
anyway, he's asking what book he should read to be able to show witnesses they are wrong.
BD I finished one recently called, "Reasoning from the scriptures with jehovah's witnesses" by Ron Rhodes. It's a book that picks apart jw beliefs point by point and refutes them with scripture (as understood by the mainstream Christian church). If your guy loves him some Jesus he may dig it. The only disclaimer I would put on it is that it reads like a combination of the witling reasoning book and the US tax code.

I was at my neighborhood library early in September and I looked for 'Crisis of Conscience'. They have one copy and it was checked out. When I returned my books last week I checked again and it was still gone. I'm hoping someone with doubts is doing some thorough research and it hasn't been snuck away by a jw loyalist. Buying another copy and donating it to the library might be a good idea.

i have just ben told by my jw wife that my daughter will not be able to get a penny for her very 1st wobbly tooth, presumably because the belief in fairys may be damaging to her.
on the other hand, it is ok for 100 adults to discuss in front of my wee 5 year old, matters relating to oral sex in a sunday morning wt study.

Yep. It's the whole gulp the camel and strain the gnat in some bizarro context. I was asked by a jw sibling why I let my kid play with a barbie dressed like Ariel from the 'Little Mermaid'. The same visit I noticed that they had left the Oct asleep rag mag out in the bathroom. A child can't engage the healthy world of imagination but carp about child molesters is 'okay' for anyone of any age. Sometimes children just need to be allowed to be children and not automatons that sit still in meetings or assemblies for hours at a time.
