From another website I like to read:
"Sounds like this case has a hole in it."
"Charles Dickens and Victor Hugo to speak as character witnesses."

Did the link point to the wrong article? The one I read was about a guy that assaulted a woman after attempting to steal a donut. A grand jury decided that he needed to stand trial. Where is the part about the lawyer being a jerk?
A grand jury agreed with police on the strong-arm robbery charge. County Prosecutor Wendy Wexler Horn said that it was "way too early to know how it is going to play out" but that the charge seemed appropriate given the allegations. She was aware that some people seemed shocked by the case.
"People are missing the point," Horn said. "It is not about the doughnut."
The prosecutors comment is not anywhere near the actions of the DA in a recent case against the Duke lacrosse players. Now THAT guy was a jerk.
Chai tea? Tai Chi.

all of this talk about bojangles chicken has got me in the mood for a food related topic, so here it is.. .
is there any food dishes or style of cooking that is unique to your region?.
growing up in dayton ohio, i have a love affair for "dayton style" pizza, this is pizza that is thin crust, cut in squares, and they use diced meats and veggies, along with provolone cheese.
The restaurant 'Pancho's' was mentioned and yes there are still two or three here in Oklahoma. I only wish I had gone there when the food tasted good as was mentioned. I wouldn't go there now.
Something I miss from Denver:
Green Chili or chile. The kind where real pork (Carnita's) is cooked for a long, long time into a delicious thick soup. And then serve it over anything from breakfast burritos to good tamales. The hotter the better!
I've tried asking for it in Oklahoma and I usually get a slimy green salsa made with tomatillo's. Not even close to being the same.

This guy never had a clue. He just plays his horn or does his own thing, much like me:

The board went through a SIMPSONS avatar phase.
What do you mean went through? Was there a memo? I didn't get the memo. Is this new light? Did I miss a convention?

I always liked Gonzo. He wasn't afraid to do anything, especially if it involved gunpowder and a large canon. He really dug the chick(en)s but for some reason the chickens always looked afraid of him. Go figure.
As for the poster that said you 'perceive yourself as hot':
She is hot!
okay i think everybody here understands anger, sadness, and fear, but you know.... this is going to be the strangest thread ever, might be even out of place but.... what are some of the things you miss and/or love about your family and friends, yes the jws ones.
because only people who you love like hell can put a deep cut into your chest like that.
and no i don't think this is a jw apologist kind of thread, at least i don't think so because acknowledging the horrible stuff people do to you (us) doesn't mean that we have to forget about all the positive things and good qualities of a person.. like my mom for instance.
Saywhat, I found your post very touching. I spent some time just staring at the reply screen because I really did want to have something to post that was inline with your thread. But I can't today. Everytime I thought back on something good or kind or even compassionate, a little voice in my head went off and said, "Yeah, but..." I couldn't recall an experience when the jw's in my life didn't have an ulterior motive. And yet, I still have a difficult time yanking those people from my life. It's like the stove, that I know is hot, and I just can't stop reaching out to touch it.
Maybe I'm just not far enough along in the process of 'getting over it'. Maybe I'll feel different later.
I sincerely hope that many others post more in along the lines of your OP, and sorry for the threadjack.
Chris
you heretics, you think you speak the truth, yet you lie and take advantage of those in need!
i know your ways, aiming for people that can't even read.
you crazed hypocrites!
Fallen star,
Hello and thank you! This was the first thread I read when coming online tonight and I got a huge chuckle. What a great way to start the evening!
Anywho, welcome aboard and I'm glad you're here.
Ya'll stay awhile!
Chris
somebody claims that people who fail to finish what they start are more prone to alzheimers.

that's why i want to finish off the watchtower: i need to keep my brain.. .
It's all the aluminium in your drinking water that doesn't help!
I still think there could be something to that idea, but I'm not a scientist and they don't seem to think so these days:

In the late 80's my dad was diagnosed with alzheimers. When we questioned the diagnosis because of his young age they updated it to pre-senile alzheimers. We looked at all his habits to see if we could find anything that had contributed to the condition and one thing kept popping up - pepto. He was addicted to the stuff, always carrying the chewable tablets in his pockets and mini bottles of the liquid in his car. One of the prominent, but considered inactive, ingredients in the product is aluminum. If he were alive today he could have taken any one of a dozen different drugs, many now available over the counter, for his stomach and intestinal problems that do not contain aluminum.
I just hope I don't get it. I have blue eyes but I'm not easily distrac - Oh, look at the pretty pictures on the TV...
