All JWs have already been disfellowshipped!

ive been visiting this site for about 8 months, just taking in all your comments and the issues that are of importance to those who have been jehovahs witnesses and the problems that you have identified with the religion.

i was brought up in the truth in the 60s and 70s but my parents left before i reached the age when i would consider being baptised.

subsequently my parents divorced but have remarried separately and are both back in the religion.

Let me see if I get this. The Catholics denied the Bible to their adherents by forbidding them to read it. Granted. The WTBS has effectively done the same thing by EXPLAINING every detail of it to fit their concept. Granted. How are YOU denying us access to the Bible? Are you not doing just what you accuse the WTBS of doing, only with a mathematician's explanation instead of Brooklyn's?

Why is God unable or unwilling to allow anyone who truly wants to learn to pick up a Bible and read it for himself?

why would i want such a thing:.

i am lonely, and i know that most of the women who are jw's are concerned with them selves they want rich men with flashy clothes.. women who want prestige in the congregation saying look i got an elder for a husband see how he is taking the lead in my family in all things and giving talks at the assembles, i show him respect as man only because he has earned it in the fashion of a bride price.. thus the above relates to me to the extent my ex-wife got me to believe in all this negative crap, that i as a man was unworthy of god and my fellow members if i don't size up to all the religious do's and don'ts.. depression oh yeah i am that just like toy's r. us, traumatic brain injury then my a wonderful wife in good standing in the holy witness congregation of twenty-one years, dumps my sorry ass saying gee you have changed too much.

like duh, you have large portion of your brain stabbed and gouged from skull fragments and see if it does not confuse you or contribute to depressing you dear, of course no response she just goes and marries a known child molester of the congregation who then attempts it on my twelve year old daughter.. oh there's is much more so crazy you would think i was making it up, but who gives a flying crap, huh.. ~shane

Both my father and my younger brother committed suicide, both died younger than I am. I have fought that feeling, that urge for quite some time now.

I have never been a happy person and find little joy in life. I do have people who depend heavily on me and that has been a great deterrent in dealing with my urgings.

So many times there is really little that can be said but I wish only to point out what has worked for me. Find a reason for continuing.

Life is far too wondrous and complex to be without purpose, there has to be something to all of this. Ride it out.

I was vacationing in Jamaica one year and we took a ride on a raft and the guide began pitching his gourds. He told us that the company allowed them to do this as part of their compensation. When I asked him how much he wanted for them he smiled and said: "Whatever you wish. I know you will take care of me at the end of the ride." As soon as he said it I had a strange feeling that he had touched on something far grander than a raft ride or the sale of gourds. I cannot forget that humble man's words.

So I will stay for the ride until it is over or at least until it becomes so unbearable that I can no longer take the pain. I believe there is something at the end of this life.

i heard a rumor that a couple of years ago the jw's actually outlawed french kissing too.

can anyone tell me if this is true and also whether or not there has been any "new light" shed on the policy since?.

I think that your indignation was justified. First of all, your initial comment was nothing that warranted his outburst. While a witness I heard many such remarks and it only amused me.

We should always try to maintain control of our composure but we are, after all, just human so... You know what's right and wrong and in the end you will make the right decision about whether or not you should apologize for the WAY you responded to his assinine remark. We all know he deserved to be told something.

I've Cried for Days

i have been separated from the jws now for 4 years.

the first year, i went into a deep and severe clinical depression.

i think that's what happens when you are 3rd generation jw, born and raised.

Dear Wick,
As some have already commented to that effect, I’m sure by now you realize that others have been down the path that you are now just discovering. It was very un-loving of your sister to travel so far to come tell you that she doesn’t like you after she failed to ‘bring you back into the fold’. It’s not a unique situation, however. Many JW’s get very angry if you do not nod and grin and go along with what they say. When this happens out in field service they walk away very smug with the notion that this person will perish at Armageddon for having the bad manners not to agree with their every word. When it has to do with a witness, then they can always label that one an apostate and again revel in the joy that this person will meet his just reward at Armageddon. Perhaps there is a deep fear inside that they are not right and need that faith re-affirmed by those around them. Remember that it’s their conditioning.

You said something else that really struck a chord with me: “During this same time, I learned (from a reliable source) that my oldest brother...was on this discussion board…this was faith wrenching.” Isn’t it strange that you would (finally) decide that this is not the truth and then almost panic when you realize that a family member is coming to the same conclusion? I experienced this same thing with my children. It took a long time for me to finally make the mental break and during that very precarious state in which I found myself, I saw my children begin to express doubts. It frightened me until I realized that it was the conditioning I had undergone that did that. Once the break is complete then you will see thing differently.

my wife and i attended our last meeting last night.

it wasn't so bad, since it was bookstudy and they threw a little party for us afterwards - we are moving to wa from pa next week.

we will never set foot in a kingdom hall again - feels great.

I'm sorry that this happened to you but I'm happy that you have been able to reconcile with your brother. I know a family right now that just lost their son to AIDS. He was df'd because of homosexuality and, of course, there was very little contact with him. The parents are having an extremely difficult time dealing with it. Although they would never admit it, I'm sure they regret all the time they could have shared with their son if they had not honored the shunning thing.

There is an elderly sister who lost her husband a couple of years ago. Her only son is at Bethel and her only daughter is df'd. I met and spoke with the daughter at the funeral and I know she would love to be able to be with her mother but the mother will allow that. The old man who died was never baptized although he was at every meeting and even commented. The reason he never got baptized was because he knew once he did that, he would not be able to speak to his daughter.

BTW he died of post surgery complications because he refused a blood transfusion. He had colon surgery and the stapler malfunctioned and it took too long to sew him back up with a needle.

She is now a lonely old woman living alone in a big house. The witnesses don't visit much because she's single. She has no worldly friends because that would be 'bad'. It's been a very long time since I have seen her smile.

VERY interesting (April 1, 2002 WT, p.19)

this statement is prety interesting.

it's taken from the very latest watchtower article (april 1, 2002) the final sentence of paragraph 14 reads:.

"if jehovah's organization knowingly endorsed false teachings, advice to read the bible would never be given to jehovah's witnesses and those to whom they preach.".

Perhaps he was/is like a lot of elders who know there is something wrong but like the rank and file are afraid to admit even to themselves that it is so. Maybe he wanted to protect your mom in the only way that he felt he was able to.

The problem with the statement under discussion, as I see it, is the word 'knowingly'. This would suggest that the Faithful Slave is not privy to sacred knowledge inasmuch as sacred knowledge, by definition, cannot be false. "unknowingly" is implied by the statement and is really an admission of ignorance such as is the situation with the rest of humanity. That would put them in the same basket with everyone else. To me that means they have been guility of promoting what they do not know as fact. The 'do not know' is forgivable in my book, but not the lie about it being from God.

Just my slant on it... I could be wrong...unknowingly.
