Question; Can an elder refuse to participate in a JC if it bothers his conceince, or would he be pressured to do so?
A. An elder can refuse to sit on a particular case BUT if he voices his refusal to sit on ANY case because of his not being in agreement with the arrangement (conscience) then his qualifications would be called into question.
Question: As a "disfellowshipping elder", did you EVER once utter to the disfellowshippee that "jehovah will no longer hear your prayers or cries for help. Only Satan can now"?
A. I never said that to anyone.

***The first time you disfellowshiped someone was there regret? sadness? or a sense of justice?
I felt that justice had been served. There was no sadness
*** Did you have doubts as to your qualifications to be making this decision?
Yes.
*** Were you nervous, was there any doubt in your mind at all that this was the right decision?
I was nervous. The wrongdoing was clearly established. At that time I was thoroughly convinced that df’ing was scriptural and proper.
*** When it was over did you feel like God's Spirit had helped in the decision making?
Yes.
*** I would like to know how you felt THEN..not how you feel about it now...
I felt part of a process in which I believed. You asked about the FIRST and to the best of my recollection this is how it was. However, later on there were times when I felt great sadness over having to sit as judge over people that I knew and loved. I felt extremely uneasy hearing some very personal and intimate things that were embarrassing for all the parties there. I felt it was my duty and I performed it. There were times later on when I doubted the decision was the right one. There came a time when I realized that God’s Spirit had nothing to do with the decisions being reached.
The last df’ing of which I was a part had to do with a man who was guilty of some very vile conduct. At that time my doubts were surfacing and I could no longer ignore them. The df’ing was not an issue with me at the time, however. I was still serving as an elder and it was my responsibility to sit in on the committee. Although I have stated here several times that I do not believe in df’ing as it presently exists in the organization, IF…IF I did believe in it…this guy would certainly be a candidate for it.

They Don't Care If It Is Not The Truth
by Dutchy inone of my brothers in an elder in his congregation and the other is a co. they have both told me that they don't beieve that jehovah's witnesses have the truth and they are aware of the hypocrisy in the organization but they don't care.
they will never renounce their membership in this organization.
when asked why they say that they love the adulation given to them by the brothers.. the are always the first to be invited to the homes of the friends, they are sought out for advise and it makes them feel like big, important men.. the truth is that this organizaation does serve a purpose for some people.

Dutchy:
While I do not doubt the situation that you described, nor do I say that it did not happen, BUT…I must say that I find it hard to believe that your two brothers would come right out and say what they did. In all my years (40+) of association and service in the organization I have run across many men in power. There are those that are in it for just what you stated but I have never heard someone admit to this.I have run across some very sincere people who had doubts and were aware of the many injustices in the system. They somehow believed (or rationalized) that the good that was there outweighed the bad.
I have known some that were in it just for the power trip BUT...they would never admit it...not even to themselves. They were, themselves, caught up in their own web of deceit and hypocrisy. They saw themselves as fully righteous.
I have known some as described by Path. This is the saddest of all cases, I believe. These people cannot afford to see the real truth. They don’t have the time to re-adjust.

I also believe that sites like this one help. I would think, however, that most of the JW's who visit (and stay for any time) are those that already feel there is something wrong.
I'm not sure that fliers would do much good unless they were very subtle. An obvious attack on the WTBS would send red flags up. Next, if a Witness were to pick one up he would have to be alone in order to read it. If there is another Witness with him, he'll feel obligated to throw it away. He can't keep the flier for fear of its being discovered on his person. But this is interesting nonetheless. Can you think up of something that might compell a Witness to read on and perhaps sow a seed of doubt in their mind? I would be interested in seeing this.
The internet is a different cookie altogether. He can browse in privacy and, unlike the flier, the volume of information is tremendous.
There is also the advantage of interaction with others. On the board he has a chance to voice his concerns and questions and see how others have handled this.
The drawback is that there are a lot of Witnesses that don't have computers and many that have them but would not dare get online.

We sometimes fail to appreciate just how much people want to believe and what they will do to maintain the Society's cleverly contrived illusion.
The truth of the matter is that the Society has grown to the point where it can withstand scandals and still walk away from it pretty much intact. Unlike Jim Jones, this is a system with a heirarchy. When push comes to shove, individuals may be blamed and sacrificed but the system will remain in place.
Another thing we may fail to realize is that the Society is only one of a great many belief systems enslaving people's minds and hearts. There are corrupt governments on earth today that do more harm than the Society and I would like to see those removed as well.
I believe all we can do is help those that are within our sphere of influence lest we begin perpetuating our own little fantasy world in which we see the WTBS come crashing down as a result of something we expose about them.
We may want to also ask ourselves what it is that we are offering in the place of what we are asking them to leave. Freedom? The word brings to mind a verse in an old Janis Joplin number: "Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose..." It's just plain scary for someone who has been very comfortable with his/her beliefs to suddenly be confronted with the possibility that it's all bogus. Many are willing to sacrifice a little logic for the comfort of the illusion. Many are willing to remain 'slaves' for the perceived security there. Many prefer dying with a hope, any hope however slim, rather than live with the idea that death ends it all, ESPECIALLY those that have grown old and sickly. As long as those situations exist...so will the WTBS and other entities like itself.

Do you honestly believe that giant corporations actually PAY for anything...ever?
Whatever it costs for proper waste disposal, the cost of that will be added to the cost of production and the consumer (taxpayers) will not only pay the billion dollars but an additional 33% on top of that.
It's how business is done.

I don't think that it would cause the havoc you predict. The Society is very good at covering it's tracks and has managed not only to survive but to prosper against a background of sometimes silly and sometimes dangerous doctrines and false predictions. The blood issue is no different.
Look at the atrocities performed and sanctioned by the Catholic Church. She's alive and well today despite all of it.
