Xandit: I made a reply to you on another thread this morning, similar to the one I posted here yesterday. Recently we have had some posters who, shall we say, are less than polite, some downright sarcastic and mean. Perhaps they learned their manners from participation on other boards where such behavior is the norm. The point is, however, that we have all become somewhat hesitant (if not downright paranoid) in responding wholeheartedly to a new poster the way that we do to each other (those of us who have been here from the start).
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt as is only right. I'm going to assume that you are sincere in asking what you did. I'm going to assume that you will make a response to my reply concerning your request, namely:How about one clear statement that says anyone who isn't a Witness (that as in card carrying publisher, etc.) won't survive Armageddon.
In response to that inquiry I offer you the following from The Watchtower 1989, 9/1, page 19. The study article is Remaining Organized for Survival into the Millenium
Only Jehovah's Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil.
Does that meet the criteria of your request?
You mentioned in another thread that of all the Witnesses that you had questioned on this subject told you they were not under that impression. I believe you completely in this regard. MostWitnesses do not believe this nonesense butthe fact remains that this is what the Society teaches. Your C.O. knows about that article and he knows what the Society is, and has been, pushing for decades on the matter. Ask him. -

Xandit, may I suggest something? Ask your C.O. to include the phrase "Jehovah's Witnesses are not the only ones that are approved by God" in any of his talks that he will be giving in your congregation.

First of all I want to establish that I am not a redneck. BUT...I have to concede that I'm from the South. I just want to clear something up here before it gets too far...Coming out of the closet, so to speak. I have never refused a woman a massage! There, I've said it now and I feel better! (no pun intended on the 'feel' thing!)

don't be so afraid to let the truthbknown!
devoting yourself to men and their rules puts you in a precarious position with jehovah.

That's right. It has come to symbolize great fiascoes. The Edsel has become the American symbol for something that goes wrong and goes wrong in a big way!

Some Basics...
by Frenchy inokay, it appears that some of you are venturing forth onto the literary scene.
i feel it my obligation to present to you a few basic faux pas that should be avoided if you are going to survive in this very volatile environment.
today, the emphasis is on being politically correct.

What would you call your place, Seven? In keeping with the general scheme that Hooters has, that of having an owl to justify the name "Hooters" how about putting up an image of a woodpecker and call it...well, never mind. Actually someone has already done that, I'm told.

Hello, Xandit
How about one clear statement that says anyone who isn't a Witness (that as in card carrying publisher, etc.) won't survive Armageddon
First and foremost, clear statements are what's at issue here. There are precious few 'clear statements'. Let me ask you a question and then please be frank in your reply. Do you believe (enough to say it from the platform during the C.O.'s visit, for example) that it is not necessary to be a Witness to be saved at Armageddon? -

The "routine", The failure
by Pathofthorns inis it possible to do all that is required as a witness?
if one were to put down on paper all that is required to carry out, both with secular work and a good spiritual routine, is it even possible to do all that one is "supposed" to do?.
a basic routine includes:.

Is it possible to do all that is required as a Witness?
In a word, no. Paul, in his letter to the Romans addresses the issue of 'works'. Now Paul approaches this subject from the standpoint of 'works of the law' meaning, of course, the Mosaic law but not exclusively so. Please note in chapter two and verse 10 he speaks of the Greek AND the Jew in connection with 'works'. Nonetheless, Paul uses the Mosaic law to make his argument for faith rather than the dependence on 'works' as the criteria for becoming declared righteous by God.
A careful examination of that letter might lead one to believe that Paul, who was writing to Christians and not the Jewish population in general, was trying to establish a principle here. Have we perhaps, today, fallen into the trap of becoming complacent in our 'routine'? Has the routine become more important that it's purpose? Has the routine achieved such importance as to now be the focal point of the faith? Have we arrived at the conclusion that without this routine there can be no faith? Do we now need this routine as a security blanket around us in order for us to feel that we are doing all we should to please God? Could this possibly be turning into idolatry? Is the tail wagging the dog here?
I say let's talk about God and his son and not about meetings and organizations. I say that God alone is worthy of worshipful honor, praise, glory, and loyalty. I hear statements (from the literature and then parroted later on by individuals) like: "Oh, yeah? And where did you learn everything you know? Let's have some gratitude here for your teacher." In response I say: "So your gift was not really a gift at all, was it? It was conditional. You pretended to give for worshipful honor in return."
I wonder just how many people have ever really considered just what it means to worship. Here is part of the definition from one dictionary:The ceremonies, prayers, or other religious forms by which this love is expressed. Ardent devotion; adoration.;To regard with ardent or adoring esteem or devotion:To participate in religious rites of worship.
I think that we need to be very careful about 'worship'. I think we need to be very careful about where our "adoring esttem or devotion" is directed. I think we need to be very careful about all the 'religious forms' that are prescribed to us and meditate very deeply on who is actually being worshipped here.
Speaking for myself only, I fear that I have cried out for a golden calf, something tangible to see in order for me to worhsip God, and an Aaron was standing by and was only too happy to accomodate my request. -

You've all made good points here. I like the stellar reference by our resident star traveler and I especially like SC's remark:
The WT also shows very little concern for us by saying we really are not representatives of the WTBTS. I say, who supports their rear-ends?
So true! They love to say "Jehovah's Witnesses believe..." But they should say, rather, "This is what we tell Jehovah's Witnesses to believe..."
