You shouldn't worry about what MIL's say.

If your wife misses meetings she still will be visited by some Servants, for Memerial, so that's not a write off
If she stays a way, she'll regain her peace of mind, and deal with the grieving process this takes time
The meetings that we attend today,is not exactly how the 1st century christians attended (not 5 hrs a week)

In the publications they state that there will come a time when a ban is imposed upon our faith, and we will not be able to meet freely. The preaching work is also to end during the GT. So, in the end you will not be judged on your meeting attendace, or service time. It comes down to your heart condition, and faith, not meetings and what ever judgements come from MIL's.

Sorry for this red ink...I can't seem to turn it off.

I beleive that we are in 2008. I sent an email to my Retirement Plan Administrator, about your historic findings hoping to retire early, and darn it all the email came back. It said get back to work, it's 2008. They would be in a good position in knowing about that.

I can only speak for myself, I have stepped aside from serving as an Elder. I put down health reasons. I have served in that capacity for over 20 + years. When I was serving as an active Elder, I would read, and visit this site, but would never post my thoughts. There are some expressions that were made on this site that I thought were bang on. However, there are some that are made that are off the wall. I think that it's good for the forum to exist, because it allows us to vent the frustrations that we can't openly admit to others. e.g. the people on the outside just can't relate to what we are experiencing. Quiting the ORG is not as easy as it sounds. Some would have to make sacrifices. Some still believe that some changes will take place, and are hoping. I don't know about CO's though, but I have read some posts that have shared copies of correspondence that only would be in possession of CO's

I have been on a few cruises, and met a few of JW's friends on them. It also was pleasant to meet different people from different locations. When I spoke with them, I couldn't help but notice the same hassles that plague them as with all of the ones in the ORG. Don't get me wrong now, I met some really good friends and they were very pleasant to meet, but, they did have some pet peeves about some things in the ORG. It's strange that some would spend their vacation time to count field service. That isn't the idea behind a successful vacation. You're supposed to forget reality, that is to a certain respect, and have fun.

i actually find it pleasant, it makes it a lot easier to tolerate some of the boring speakers.

but what about the service.

I think that reducing the meeting times is a good step in the right direction. We have 2 Theocratic schools, but there are so many cancelations that in the summer months it is reduced to only one. They would be better off to only have one school in our congregation.

For many years I would sit through a Circuit/Elders meeting where we would discuss why the Bookstudy is weak in attendance. Many times I would bite my lip, and refrain from asking, why is this a national problem as well? If the rest of the country is having a problem with it, then what is the problem? They don't seem to get it.

I know that Heb.10:24,25 is used to justify our meeting attendance. The soc claims that the 1st century christians had the custom of attending their meetings, so we should. But, they only had the practice of attending once a week at the synagogue, not the burden that is imposed on us in this time.

my wife still goes to the meetings but i haven't heard too much about what is happening.

new light, great organizational changes, is it the religion for me now???

There is now new light on Oral Sex. It's considerred more than just speaking about it.

The microphone carrieres in the KH are now publishers who do over 10 hrs of field service, and have to spend a week training at Pattison, to learn about the art of microphone handling.

If you are past the age of 100 years old, you are handed a auxilliary pioneer application for April.

The Watchtower is now split up into two separate issues per month. One issue is for the public, the other is for the one's that need to be trained behind closed doors.

There is no more sleeping at the Public meetings..the talks have been reduced in time to interfer with a good long snooze.

More changes are still to come..keep on checking this website.

106 year old sister auxiliary pioneers - Jan KM

yep, there's no excuse for any of you lot.. if a sister of 106 can auxiliary pioneer last memorial season, so can you.. this ancedote was in the jan km - puke making - what the heck was a 106 year old doing going from door to door, and i mean this literally, not just phone witnessing.. have these people got no sense?

i mean 106 years old and making 50 hours a month - for what?.

This is just some kind of incentive that the Society uses to either guilt us, or to shame us into doing something that they can't motivate us in doing.

I do recall a 90+ yr old sister who lived in a LTC facility who put in her application to Aux pioneer. I was secretary at the time but never got to see her application. The PO had a habit of just announcing the app's without them being authorized by the Service Committee before. Anyways it was announced, and this poor sister went out during a very cold month in April. This literally killed her. She died of pneumonia the following month. You will never hear that mentioned in the KM. Some thought that this sister was very zealous and commended her for doing this. I keep thinking about how Jesus was just content in seeing an old widow giving within her means, and not expecting more. I also received a phone call from some person in the territory (angry/upset person) who witnessed her preaching at her door in such a cold wet day. The person on the outside showed more common sense in this. This is truly sad.

The society is beyond common sense in this for sure.

for those who no longer get your monthly km, i thought i'd just share a little "encouraging" tidbit from the material scheduled for this week's service meeting (tm).. there's a 20 minute "regurgitate the paragraph" session entitled "pioneer or die" or something like that.

i can't remember the exact title right now, but it was one of the most blatant "beat the sheep.

you're not good enough" articles i've seen in quite a while.

-- a married couple is leaving bethel, assigned to serve in our congregation as special pioneers.

-- the society will pay them $600 per month, and in addition cover their health insurance .

No couple can live on $600 per month or even $1,200. Especially since they need a car and will have significant gas and maintenance due to having to go out in service

Actually part time work is probably a better arrangement, and just become regular pioneers. However, they could be on the Infirm Spec Pioneer List, if they qualify, and not make the time, but collect the amount offerred. They may be offerred an appt in the Kingdom Hall, where the rent is subsidized. I've seen some seniors live on around that amount per month, and they get by, even with automobiles. They just have to be frugal. It depends on the price of gas/Ins etc. I remember when the Special Pioneer Allow. was less than $150.00 pp, and 150 hrs p.m. But, that was a long time ago, in a galaxy far away. But there was a greater need for pioneers in that galaxy. Darth Vader was a Do Not Call.
