As I was growing up my dad was an elder and I remember him having to make up on more than one occasion for the cong. expenses. It had to be at least once every quarter because contributions always seemed to be behind in order to meet the "sum". It was usually 1 to 2 Bens.

How many elders did this?
by Bumble Bee in5go had a thread here - the service overseer nearly cried from the podium that mentioned something i never realized, elders having to chip in from their own pockets to cover expenses.. how many elders here had to do that, and what was the average amount and frequency that you had to make up the shortfalls?.

Fading? What's up?
by arker ini was a jw, finally saw my chance and wrote a letter to the elders saying how bad i am and how i don't want to meet to discuss it and to df me if you want.
that was the end of it for me.
my question is if you know you are "fading" you are already gone so why not make the leap?

ManHas...
Not all of us are ready and willing to loose are wife and kids in an instant. I find myself in the same situation. Now if I wasn't happy with my wife then who gives a rats a$$, I would DA myself in a heartbeat. I also want the person I care about most to see the light about the troof and wake up one day.

At the hall last night
by Shawn10538 ini went to the hall last night to get an insight book and a concordance.
i had set it up with an elder ahead of time to get them.
i arrived after the meeting had ended, walked up to the counter anxious to leave as quickly as i came when a big brother came up to me, planted his body in between me and the literature servant and started giving me the third degree about who i am, what is my standing in the congregation, and what did i want the books for.

yea but you know as well as I do that when they see a black bro in a suit or blonde hair and blue eyes in a suit they inquire but you know they will defenitely take his word especially if the guy sounds legit and knows what he's talking about. Some spanish congs have an open english lit counter and some don't have access so it just depends.

another good idea is to go after a spanish meeting ends and say you are from the english cong. and lost a couple of books. I do admit being from the spanish cong. they have very little clue on the real truth and are more prone to taking people's word if they say they are from the english, especially if you don't look hispanic and are dressed like a bro. haha! fools!
I sort of feel sorry for the spanish bros since most of them don't know the true WT background and just do as they're told. Most of them are so poor they can't afford to buy a computer much less understand how to use one unless they're hispanic-americans like myself.

I would have said that I just moved to the area and lost a couple of books in the whole move and needed to replenish. Would have made up a cong. name and said i was from across the country. What was he going to do go do background check?

i know you're between a hard place and a rock but if your family really loves you they will love you either way you go. Its better, for your future sake, that if you're going to get out do it now, when you're young. Its a lot easier if you're single than if you were married with a jw and had a child and would have to take even longer to ease your way out of da troof for fear of losing your wife and kid(s). Thats my current situation.

My last communication with mom & sister
by HadEnuf intoday i decided to write my mom and sister, who are currently occupied with shunning me, a letter of good-bye.
seems to me that this should bring me somewhat of a closure to this whole jw business.
i probably won't send this out until next week.

Very well thought out letter. Don't be surprised if they have a last minute change of heart.
Best wishes to you and your family!

King-go-melodies
by Serg ini don't know about you but i don't think i'll ever be able to forget all those melodies that have been repeated over and over for 30yrs.
and they're so catchy, sort of like christmas songs, i find myself humming them when i least expect it, or there's always a sound or song i hear that sparks a melody in my head.
i guess thats another form of crazy programming almost impossible to delete.
