Finding out Who you really are

good morning everyone,.

i'm very new on here--just "born yesterday", as a matter of fact, but am finding out how wonderful it is to be able to be free to express thoughts and opinions, share ideas, give comfort, and find hope, within "these walls".. i'm going to ask a question, and that is, how long did it take any of you souls out there to find your true self, after leaving jw's?

i was very young when i was first introduced to the studies of jw's.

I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated you sharing your story with us. I would say that I enjoyed reading it, but somehow that just doesn't feel like the right thing to say in a situation like this.

Though our circumstances are vastly different, I still can relate to and sympathize with what you have gone through. Even though I have been out for almost ten years now, I still feel as if I've yet to discover myself and find out who I really am. I do feel, though, that each day brings me a bit closer than the day before.

This board has been a great source of comfort to me over the past fifteen months or so and though I am not an incredibly active participant, I find that the opinions and comments made by the others has helped me out immensely on more than one occasion.

Welcome to the board! I look forward to reading many more posts from you in the future.

what is it that the wtbts can't abide nor tolerate?

publicity: the searching luminosity of truth.

when the light of truth is turned on them, they scatter like roaches suddenly exposed to daylight.. i am suggesting that next summer, during the usual round of vacation ruining assemblies, that we have our own round of conventions, apost-0-conventions.

I've often been puzzled by that myself. Unfortunately, I think that the reason I feel that way is because I believe that's one of the arguments that the Reasoning From the Scriptures book uses.

Honestly, though, I have to agree with nativenyr23 that the reason that most do wear a cross is so that they can be reminded of what Jesus sacrificed for us.

Maybe I'm not the brightest bulb in the box (and never professed to be, either ) but I found that cartoon and the caption beneath it in the Revelation book a bit misleading. From the way the caption read, I just sort of assumed that it was a political cartoon from the period. Until you guys pointed it out to me I didn't put two and two together.

Bumper sticker ideas!

i am going to put out some bumper stickers at a minimal cost to those who are interested.

any ideas for a good slogan on the silentlambs/pedophile issue?

anyone up for creating the graphics?

What about just simply putting black letters on a white background that says "www.silentlambs.org" with a picture of the little lamb from the site. It should certainly pique people's interest enough to run home and check out the site.

The fact that they fail to use some sort of index to credit photographs has always been a pet peeve of mine.

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you sure that the WTB&TS is responsible for this image? The caption underneath says...

Appearing with this caption, the above cartoon is typical of many published in the 1930's that stung "those men who do not have the seal of God"

Honestly, I'd be more than happy to see them take the blame for the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby at this point, but I'm not completely convinced they're the ones to blame for this one.

Anyone ever taken one of these tours? I went on one about twelve years ago, though not run by this company. While on the trip, I was deep in the throes of active JWism so I enjoyed it immensely, but upon reflection I don't know how in the world I ever made it for a week on that bus.

To paraphrase a line from 'Red Dwarf' - It was like being on holiday with a bunch of Germans!

BTW, no offense to any Germans who might possibly be reading the board.

Get rich Quick Dubs

dubs are always looking for an angle to make money.their probably no worse than anybody else,but they do like to preach against materialism while chasing the illusive dollar.alot of times its some form of pyramid scheme.amway for one,or the triple charge system(owned and operated by some dubs from califonia)then theres the out and out pyramid scheme.you bring in people who give the pyramid $500.00,after bringing in so many people the guy at the top get`s a $17,000.00 payout,and is free to start again at the bottem of the pyramid.i`ve known a few dubs who have collected their 17grand.the pyramid eventually burns out,and the people at the bottem are left holding the bag(no payout).they lose the money they couldn`t afford to spend to begin with.there are some dubs though,that make a good living at this.what are some of the get rich schemes you`ve witnessed(pun intended)in dubland?...outlaw

Several of the brothers and sisters at my local hall became infatuated with the latest miracle product to sweep the nation...melaluca oil. They were selling everything from lotion to ointment to pills and tea. It was really big down here in the south...for about six months.

Talking about Shaklee brought back some particularly vivid memories for me. My mom used to make us take the liquid vitamins that they used to sell. Man, that stuff was nasty. To this day I refuse to take vitamins based solely on remembering what that stuff tasted like.
