  Questions about WT illustrations

  when i was a kid....i used to look at the wt illustrations of paradise conditions and would day dream about life in the new system....i later used this same technique (shame on me) to brain wash bible students.

  however...as i grew up lol (apparently!

  ) the illustrations changed....and became more modern.

  About ten to fifteen miles from my old congregation sits this beautiful downtown area...Gorgeous antebellum homes on a massive oak lined drive that probably runs for fifteen miles. These homes are just amazing. So amazing in fact, that many of the sisters at my old hall used to 'joke' that when the new system arrived they were making a claim on some of those homes. This went on for so long that our PO one day from the podium made the comment that Armageddon did not include a 'land rush' for homes that we want. You should have seen the faces on some of those elder's wives that night. Absolutely priceless!

  Candles and JWs

  i wonder how many jws r aware that candles have pagan origins as admitted by bishop newman(sp?

  ) in the 19th century?

  should a faithfull jw have anything to do with candles therefore?

  Count me among those who have never run across a JW with a candle aversion (hmmm...candle aversion therapy anyone?). I can't imagine how anyone would automatically equate candles with devil worship or summoning demons.

  lovsinner - I do have to agree with your dad on the incense thing. It's not that I have any superstitious notions about it, I just can't stand the smell of it. I've hated it for as long as I can remember. But hey, I'm weird! LOL!

  However, I would like to state for the record that not everyone from the state of Alabama is an illiterate, imbecilic inbred moron. That's only those from the northern part of the state.

  jerry falwell recently outed tinky winky, from the television show, "teletubbies", because, falwell pronounced, "the character is clearly a fount of gayness.

  he is purple, the gay color, he has an antenna shaped like a triangle, the gay symbol, and he carries a purse, something all gay people do.

  Do you remember all of the fuss about a year or so ago when Minute Maid (I think) produced the orange juice commercial where after drinking OJ, Bluto and Popeye were best of friends?

  The Daily Show on Comedy Central had a field day with that one after several groups insisted that this was a part of a conspiracy to push the homosexual agenda on children. Oh, brother!

  for as long as i can remember that environnment included the idea that men were not just fathers but also leaders.

  Men can be VERY emotional! They can fly off on some tirade or down right fits of anger causing the rest of the family to run for cover! Some men will break out in a fight at a local bar, they will punch one another, stab one another, kill one another! Also when playing sports male players many times exhibit uncontrolled anger. Emotion, emotion running wild!

  One thing that I think you need to realize here is that for the most part, these are the only emotions that it is acceptable for men to have. Just as society has forced men to think of women as being the more emotional of the sexes, we have been forced into being the testosterone fueled beasts that you mentioned above.

  I've been known to cry at a good movie or when I hear a song that touches me deeply, but for the most part it's just simply not acceptable for me to admit to that...and that's truly a shame. Sure, I can be just as egotistical and arrogant as the next guy but more often than not, I'm a blend of the two. At least I'd like to think so. LOL!

  Fainting, seizures, vomiting - help!

  my oldest daughter, beth, had her second episode yesterday and i'm now officially worried and am looking for someone in the medical community or someone who recognizes these symptoms.. her very first seizure was a febrile seizure, due to a high temp when she was a year old.

  i doubt this has anything to do with the present stuff.. a few months ago, she fainted at work and seizured on the stairs, was taken by ambulance to the er.

  she came home looking beat up from banging her head on the stairs, with a mild concussion.. yesterday, when she went to get on the bus, she felt it coming on again, and while she was able to somehow ward of the 'seizure', she blacked out before she could pay her fare.

  I was beginning to think I was the only one who had ever heard of Don and Mike. I'm not lucky enough to be able to hear them on WJFK, but I do get a tape delayed broadcast down Alabama way every afternoon. They crack me up!

  Jehovah's Witnesses tend to seek out unwary individuals and engage them in dialogue. Often they were once fine people with an extensive {Free Will} background. But they tend to be proud of their collective duplicitous accomplishments. <<Based on several years of deep research, careful study of The Watchtower, and profound meditation (Wait! I can't meditate...that might open my mind to Satan!) I have concluded blah blah blah ...>> They will claim support for their ideas from others who are supposedly pillars in the community. <<I know numerous people, including normally sane persons, who agree with me that blah blah blah ...>> They will flatter the listener while speaking condescendingly of people in general. <<I realize that most people wouldn't understand; but I realize that you are by no means average, but are truly open-minded.>> The speaker condescendingly suggests that most individuals are simple, unpretentious, and unsophisticated, but is implying that for the most part we are a bunch of dopes.

  Jehovah's Witnesses have also been known to speak out in fearlessness from time to time. They believe theirs is the God of true prophecy and what he foretells comes to be.

  What are your posting habits?

  just a question that occurred to me.

  how often do you post here?.

  let me tell you about my posting habits to get the ball rolling.. i never post during the morning (equivalant to midnight-3am in america), purely because i a) have to get to work, busy busy, and b) i am not terribly lucid before my 3rd cup of coffee .

  I don't really have any posting habits yet...when I find something that really moves me to respond I just go for it.

  Having said that, I'm not incredibly active on the boards. I read them almost constantly, though: before work, during my morning and afternoon breaks, and when I get home in the evenings. I think I somehow lack the confidence to just up and post any old thing, so I'll deliberate over it and eventually talk myself out of posting completely.
