All of the above, not to mention, witness parents consider it an honor to Jehovah to watch their children suffer "persecution" by being a social outcast among the "worldlies". Sick but true. I even remember having that said to me as a young kid, "Well, the bible said we would be persecuted" my mom smiling a proud smile, how messed up is that? LOL

Why don't JW's have their own school for young people?
by QuestioningEverything inthis is something that i have been asked several times and have wondered myself.
it would alleviate all of the uncomfortable situations involved with flag saluting, birthday parties, etc...

Shouldn't JWs Ban Wedding Receptions Because of their Pagan Origins?
by neverendingjourney inwell, nah, because jesus attended a wedding reception and provided kick a$$ wine.
but, modern day jw's are all about removing anything fun from life, so they should consider it for this reason alone.
one more fun thing bites the dust.

Given that JWs do not allow rice-throwing and wedding toasts because of their "Pagan" origins, why should they allow same-color bridesmaid dresses and wedding kisses? Should they just outlaw wedding receptions altogether?
Now sing with me, to the tune of the Mickey Mouse song, ( M I C K E Y..you get the idea)
H Y P O C R I T E S , that's what they mean to me

I feel exonerated
by John Doe infor a while i feel i was implicated by a scatological quagmire of ruffians who wanted nothing more than to cast doubt on the magnanimous glory that is me.
now i feel justified in gaining ascendancy over their impotent crescendo of inane and asinine banter, and thank god that my glory survives unscathed.
as such, i will continue to bless this board with my insights at no charge, other than to exact your praise and worship.

Ah, my misguided disciple. That is not the proper posture to assume when worshipping my greatmess. You must first be on your knees. . .
I should warn you, I bite, hard.

I think all the male athletes should get a medal, just for shrinking their weeners. Lets face it, that's real commitment!
Yeah a medal for stupidity. I can see it now....the winning Olympian male athelete comes home thinking, 'I can win the gold, but I can't get a date, I wonder why.'

Olympians? Not usually. David Beckham, yeah, he's hot.
Interesting fact on possible effect of "Olympian level" atheletics in women: Atheletic Amenorrhoea
Causes of athletic amenorrhoeaThe sex hormones can be disrupted by a number of events, including:
- Low body fat levels – the female body won't menstruate below a certain percentage of body fat.
- Exercise – physical exertion prompts the release of certain hormones, such as beta endorphins and catecholamines, and high levels of these hormones seem to interfere with the interplay of oestrogen and progesterone.
- Emotional stress – strong, debilitating emotions are known to affect the hypothalamus, the brain structure that oversees the menstrual cycle.
- Disordered eating – such as crash dieting and skipping meals may be indicative of eating disorders, producing weight related amenorrhoea.
Long term complications
The long term complications of untreated athletic amenorrhoea include:- Infertility – a woman is unable to conceive whilst she is amenorrhoeic, but athletic amenorrhoea has no effect on long term fertility once menstruation recommences.
- High blood cholesterol levels – caused by an oestrogen related slump in the ratio of 'good' cholesterol (high density lipoprotein or HDL) to 'bad' cholesterol (low density lipoprotein or LDL).
- Osteoporosis – a disease characterised by brittle, honeycombed bones that break easily.
- Premature ageing – loss of skin elasticity due to insufficient levels of oestrogen.

by Magick ini haven't been here for a while, and i'm out of the loop as far as what is happening on this board...not sure why it's closing, or when.
since, it seems like the end of the world as we know it, is anyone up for a good pairing off before we go?

Are we beating a dead horse?
by Gregor inthe wtb&ts has already shown clear signs of defeat which have been pointed out here very thoroughly.
those who cling to it have their own motivations, most of which are based in either self delusion, ignorance or plain old fear of shunning.
the majority of people in mainstream culture who even recognize the name, jehovah's witnesses, associate them with an annoying fundamentalist group who knock on your door to push their pamphlets.

I'd have to agree with Shamus. There are alot who are too afraid of the loss of loved ones to ever escape. Very sad, but true.
