my guess is probably not, or if they were they weren't that much of a jw or their perspective isn't so relevant to jw thought - i trust those that have been out a while understand what i mean, hindsight and all.
what i'd like to do is draw out a contrast that some may have by way of their personal experience, maybe a "worldly person" or other non-jw that is an example of someone that has a great and helpful perspective on life, vs. the jw one.
there may be people from this board, but i think even a specific telling moment with a simple thing could be good or even better.
No- there is a difference between a "deep" person (who sooner or later will FIND God) and the typical shallow person- who rarely thinks or cares about weteher or not there is a God!
The most spiritual and deep people are children. Their innocence about the world and the beauty seen through their eyes is the very essence of spirituality without concept.

We had our conventions at Dodger stadium in California. I remember getting heat stroke from sitting in the sun for hours on end with no Umbrella for shade. Threw up in the men's room...I was about ten years of age at the time. Didn't get an ounce of sympathy from anyone in my family.

LOL, I had a very similar experience at a convention in Montreal, the Olympic Stadium, it was freaking hot and the roof was open. I was sitting on the floor and got heat stroke, threw up all over my friend Cindy's new shoes, she was not impressed. Continued throwing up for the next 12 hours, but my parents never took me the hospital, nothing, I would be fine, attending the convention and obeying Jehovah was all that mattered.

Noble reason to have children. I can think of one, people are always sighing over the state of the world, having and raising socially aware, free spirited, tolerant and just children is one way of helping to bring about positive change for future generations. If people don't actively choose to raise these type of children, what hope is there for the future of humanity? If only the ignorant and selfish breed, the future is screwed.
Selfish to have children? I have heard that quoted before, that a person wants their "genes" or "name" to be passed on, but if parenting was simply a matter of passing those on, why do people with more than one child mourn a lifetime if one dies? Why do people die for their children, knowing full well from a selfish perspective, they can have more offspring?

i know i'm setting myself up here, but here it goes.
first of all if you want to crack funnies about this or jokes, that's perfectly cool, it's alright, i don't mind.
however this is a true story from what happened in may and my motive for writing about this is not just humor, but i want to see if anybody else has experienced what my son went through while being in the mountains or anywhere.

i have just read the book, "snow flower and the secret fan" along with watching part of the national geographic series "taboo".
sadly, most of the modification involves distortion of the female body which then inturn, affects the minds for generations.. most of the justification for the body modification was to keep women in line mentally.
generation after generation of mothers were taught that neck lengthening, breast flatening, foot binding, and female circumsizing kept the girls clean and free from attracting men and kept them "down" in their societies.. i am not suggesting the wbts society approved of these physical methods, but the mental ramifications were adhered to and the result is the same.. women are considered second class citizens in this patriarchal society.
I don't think that the two can be equated the dubs obviously don't treat their women as harshly as do the Moslems and other primitive religions. In countries like Saudi Arabia women can't even go to school or university without their husband's (or father's if not married) permission and are not allowed to talk in public at all because the female voice is considered to be a defilement.
I think if there were jw countries, like arabic countries, you are darn right they would enforce a bunch of insane rules upon women, because they are a small number, on a global scale, they have to be somewhat reasonable in order to gain new victims, er converts.
Picture it.. a country were Jehovah rules, no other religion is allowed and they are the only majority, do you think they wouldn't be as harsh in that environment?
my dad put up with a lot of crap from the jw's when my mom divorced him and took us kids away.
so when he got the chance he would mess with them at the door.
my favorite question he asked 2 sisters when they came.. "if the bible says a wife is to give her husband his due, then do you have relations with your husband because you love him or because the bible says to?".
Had a couple of them come by recently, I told them I knew all about the j dubs, I grew up as one but was now free from the mind control of the cult and that I had no interest in hearing their "watchtower based" dribble. Told them to open their eyes and wake the (insert curse word here) up. They left pretty darn quickly! LOL
