I left the Witnesses carrying much of the baggage they'd sold me. I think that for some time after I left I'd probably have refused a transfusion. The internet cleared out all of the JW shite from my head, and now I donate blood regularly. I've also seen it save lives at first hand.
Clam, I think I'm still there. I keep saying to people although I'm no longer a jdub I still wouldn't give or accept blood. Not sure when/if this will change.

I only heard Jdubs referred to as friends in America, which I found quite odd. Didn't like it really as I like to chose my friends not have them forced upon me cos I have to like them as we believe(d) the same bullsh*t.

Firstly it is illegal for yor mum to have lost her job based on her religion, if these were the terms given to her when they fired her she could so take them to court! Which I think she should. So wrong.
Secondly its so hard when you have the realisation that Jdubs are nonsense and your family members are still a part of it. My mum is so deep into it I can't ever see her coming out. You just have to remain the loving daughter she knows you as, and hopefully she will come to the realisation that there is good outside of the org and the crap they harp on about in the halls is ruining peopls lives. Why would Jehovah give her a job then allow her to lose it, doesn't sound very loving to me!

There was a family in my cong with 3 small children, at one time or other their kids had been in or on the cover of the mags. The dad used to be a bethelite and was tight with some elders there.

My brother is D'd and he regularly visits my mum who has the book study in her home. Although she is always threatening to "cut him off". Anyway, the elders have caught him round there a few times and are always saying that they will have to take the "privalege" of the BS away from her because of this, but never have followed thru.
