  Recording a Judicial Committee Hearing

  i was reading the thread about hoboken's jc meeting and started thinking about the rule prohibiting recording devices in such meetings.

  has anyone on the board tried to challenge this rule?.

  on its face, the rule is absurd.

  i had to record a guy at a company once who was asking for bribes....it was for their own loss prevention dept....i was nervous as crap....anyway....they gave me a pen that was a mic and i stuck it in my shirt pocket...the wire went through a tiny hole i snipped in the shirt behind the pocked and it went to a digital recorder clipped to back side of my belt inside the waistline.

  olin i think it would be fun to tell them you really need to record the meeting because you have an attention deficit disorder or even short term memory problems which is common.......when they say no......you tell them you will attend but they run the risk of being secretly recorded because you may not remember them saying no....lol....what are they going to do?....strip search you?........if they ask you at the meeting if you are recording you could just tell them "you never know, so be careful what you say.....and btw, even if i was i would never admit it"........of course they will assume you are recording and it will probably be nervous as crap....................oompa

  does anyone know when WT last printed any methods of arriving at 1914 as end of the gentile time/beginning of the last days?.....when was there last a talk about it?...........oompa

  somebody once posted info about how the use of the date has dropped every year in the wt for the last ten years or so....wish i could find it

  If The Bible Is The Word Of God...

  many here have abandoned the bible as "the word of god" and there are numerous reasons for said abandonment.

  however what i am interested in finding out is if the bible is the word of god, then what would you expect to find?.

  it would be clear and understandable to all mankind.....AND it would be personally written by him in an indelible manner and in some place that it could not be tampered with!!!!!........and he would probably protect it by angels with flaming swords so nobody could screw with it and add his name 237 times to their NWT bible with no reason except they want it in the new testament!!!!

  i mean the pyramids have been around for ages, and the original writings can still be frikkin read!!!....they were not written on toilet tissue!!!!....oompa

  esp those angels protecting it would prove it for me.........

  reasons, not excuses -- even valid ones (like, "i was ignorant, depressed, fooled").. yours in the sense that you can still own (to) them -- even though you now know the "answer" was wrong.. this obviously applies to those who became jws -- hence mostly not born-in, although some of the latter might admit to having chosen the jw way for themselves at a certain stage of their childhood or teenage years.. this question is triggered by a previous conversation with purplesofa on another thread:.

  i think most of us that came in and not born in were searching.

  our hearts were pure in our search.

  as a fourth gen brainwashed from birth born in........once i leaned to reason, and it caused me internal conflict i could not deal with........i quit being a jw........oompa

  i never had REASON for becoming a jw....i just only ever remembered being one

  The desperation of JWs hoping the end comes "soon"

  i'm starting to sense a certain desperation among jws, that they feel that the great tribulation must start soon.

  i think this is due, in many cases, to their own personal situation, financial or otherwise.. if the gt doesn't come soon, and these guys really start to suffer - what then?

  the watchtower's promises that "jehovah would not forsake them if they put kingdom interests first" by skipping or dropping out of college, turning down promotions, "simplifying" their lives by selling their homes and moving to the hinterlands...will all prove to be meaningless.. if the gt doesn't come soon, and "jehovah" doesn't bail them out...then what?.

  Aude: I would dare say millions are in that situation. Most who put the kingdom first have little to zero retirement plan.

  lol......i just wondered how many in the entire world have little to zero retirement plan, or any hope of health insurance...esp in late life........i would guess the vast majority do not.......and that make me realize that most in the USA and some other affluent countries are damm lucky......obama success or not...........oompa

  good, i made it back in time for an edit.......good posts all....and i am so glad my jw dad had a good job for 35 years....has been debt free for prob 20 years, is retired and has a great pension!!!!......but he was always rock steady elder, but smart enough to believe "no one knows the day or hour!!!!!!"................geeze how simple is that!!!???.......and he has told me more than once he sure wises wt would stop saying that.......esp since the generation of 1914 was kicked to the curb in 1995.......

  i urge ALL to ask jw family and friends why they think the end is close now that our understanding of generation 1914 has bounced all over the place and for the first time EVER there is no WT link of a scripture as to how close we are to the end, nor is there a specific teaching to explain how long the last days last........they used to teach 6000 years of creation i believe, and 6000 years of man on earth.......so why not 6000 years of a last days?!?!?!........NOBODY KNOWS so ask them to kindly show you how close we are from the bible................oompa

  i know i got bothered by all the self righteous music police who would condemn me or others for our awesome record collections from early years as a teenager .

  several experiences were really quite odd .

  one brother came up to me saying i was wrong to listen to the moody blues " nights in white satin "!

  i tried to burn the old kindom melodies albums and they would not light....not even with gas....lol

  i actually got into it with an elder once after a wedding where i played a song popular at the time and the bride and groom liked.....it was funny southern rock.......dammit cant recall the name, but video was funny too.."no huggy no kissy til i get a weddin ring.....dont give me no lines and keep your hands to yourself".........

  i stood my ground!......hell the chorus actually was urging morality!!!!!...oompa

  !...i was spoonfed this from the birth, but you must feel really stoopid if bought into this as an adult and joined this outfit.....(let me know, cause i would feel stoopid and feel stoopid for not walking in 1995 when they decided the the generation of 1914 was not a real generation)....notice they continue this mindfluck teaching even after 1995....oompa.

  Nark.....in my JW owned biz the accountant was always telling us to have a 5, 10, and 15 year biz plan....WE NEVER DID!!....also held off on any retirement plan to at least mid thirties!!!......idiots we were.........oompa

  we had more money for the moment, and did not worry about he future........so i relate to your post
