The JW funeral talk outline - poor taste or REALLY poor taste?
by Mr. Falcon inso i attended a funeral for a jw who passed away (non-"annointed) and i would have to state that although i have heard the standard funeral talk outline for dozens of funerals i've attended, i never really took the time to listen.
and my god, i was cringing.
the outline is essentially broken down like this:.

Anyone remember this former C.O.: Kevin Wright?
by Olin Moyles Ghost induring the early 2000s, kevin wright was the c.o.
for a circuit that included several of my friends.
i remember hearing my friends complain about what a tool this guy was--and these complainers weren't just "lowly" publishers--some of them were elders and pioneers.

Did the Israelites lay eggs like reptiles?
by doubtful ini'm a newbie bible skeptic, but whenever i read the exodus account, i always had trouble swallowing the idea that a family of 70 people could possibly mushroom into a population of anywhere between 2-3 million in a matter of 215 years - (per the watchtower's timeline).
as i said before, math is not my strong suit, but here i will show my calculations regarding the possibility of this account, using the society's timeline.
i will ignore the fact that the bible says the nation of israel was in bondage in egypt for 400 years, and will instead use the 215 year timeframe, also because this harmonizes with the four generations from levi to moses.

What Doctrines or JW Views Did You Not Find Too Believable?
by minimus inthe thought that a loving creator would violently destroy anyone not belonging to the jehovah's witness religion including billions of babies seemed just not right.. the fact that you could recieve some "acceptable" blood components but could not donate those same lifesaving yourself seemed strange.
you could recieve a blood fraction but you couldn't give it.. any others you can think of?

Are the nations and their rulers at fault for not recognizing Jesus' invisible rulership?
by miseryloveselders inthis week's congregation bible study focuses on chapter 18 of the come be my follower book.
paragraph 8 was a real gem, as well as the comments from the audience when going over that paragraph.
i'll type paragraphs 8 and 9 for you to read along with the ensuing questions.. 8. jesus was granted still more autority in 1914. in that year he was appointed as king of jehovah's messianic kingdom.

so oompa got df'd this week...
by oompa inno call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

Thanks for you many kind words and input. i called a former great friend of mine...now an elder in the hall...and told him i would have met with a committee if they had informed me...he said he would arrange a meeting with them if i wanted...i told him i just wanted to know why they dfd me without telling me.
now thanks to your posts i see that they are saying i DA'd myself by taking blood. one elder may have been present when the doc told my wife i had two liters of blood....not sure about this HIPPA thing, but i wish my wife had been alone when the doc talked to her...but i am sure the elders were trying to comfort and support her in the hospital
the only thing i am really going to miss is my folks....my dad is a hardcore elder and has told me he will no longer be able to speak to me 100% of the time....mom is less hardcore and so is my jw youngest son who just moved out on his own. while i do miss some of my really good friends....good people...i have missed them for two or three years already because none of them have called me or asked me over...so they really aren't my friends anymore anyway....thanks again all...................................................oompa
