I totally agree, no one that has not been a part of this awful cult can relate to how emotionally draining and painful it can be to leave. I am so glad to have found this forum, it helps me keep going to know I am not alone. Isn't it terrible what this horrid organization has done to all of us???

District Assemblies Not All They are Cracked Up to Be
by WTWizard inyou hear about them for so long.
the grand boasting session is supposed to be the biggie.
there is so much hype about the motels that are on the list, which will come out right around jan 1. you are supposed to call ahead, and usually people get busy signals and full motels.

What a pleasure it is to be able to now speak of how I really felt about DCs. I hated them!! I remember how I would always shop around thrift stores to find suits for my boys. Since I was divorced even doing that was stretching the dollars. I detested the stupid conventions but was very careful not to express that to anyone else. Just having those thoughts made me feel guilty.
My husband at the time I joined (1982), left us because he hated the religion. If it hadn't been for being "in the truth," I would probably still be married to him! When I finally stopped going to meetings (2 years past), even though I am not DFS, my sister will not have anything to do with me, but it has been worth it.
When I found this forum recently, I was estatic!! At last I have found online friends that truly can understand how wonderful it is to be out of the grip of this horrible organization.
No more boring service meetings, no more book studies, no more field service, no more boring conventions, no more literature!! I AM FREE AT LAST!!!

Barbara Anderson is on NBC Nightly News Tonight 11/21/07
by AndersonsInfo ina producer with nbc in new york called within the past hour to tell me that the segment i interviewed for (once in nashville, tn in august and once in washington, dc in october) is set to air tonight on nbc nightly news with brian williams, that is, if no huge calamity takes place to bump the feature.
this piece will be two minutes and 45 seconds long, the longest slot nightly news has for topics of interest, and will feature a discussion about the court documents that are found on the cd i recently produced, "secrets of pedophilia in an american religion, jehovah's witnesses in crisis.
in addition, nbc's internet site, msn, will follow with a detailed story.

Hi and Welcome,
I have only been online for about 2 months and have only posted a couple of times. As they say, this will get easier. Just to find this web site was thrilling to me. I had truly felt as though I was all alone my decision to not return to the WT. I had been a JW for 26 years. I too have friends that are still in the organization but they no longer consider me to be their friend and I am worse than dead to my family (of course) because I have turned my back on the "truth." I still carry a great deal of guilt and it has been 8 years since I have been back.
You are going into a profession that is truly noble and we all wish you the best. You will always find friends here.....

Massive donations to the WTS
by greendawn inhave any of you or people that you know such as relatives or friends, made a very significant donation to the wts?
by that i mean property, or money in excess of let's say $10 000. .
enriching an already very rich organisation has to be moronic, they are the ones that should be helping the poor among them the proverbial orphans and widows.

A co-worker of mine who is a jw is seriously considering taking all of her and husband's (they are in their mid thirties) retirement savings and donating it to the wts because of course, the end is going to be any day now. And they have two small children!! Unbelieveable!!

My interesting anti-witness to a phone rep......
by megsmomma ini am really excited about this...i feel like it was "meant to be".. i called my cell phone company to see about getting my grandparents on the same net work, but had to make sure they would get reception in both places they live.
(they go back and forth from nevada to ohio) i also checked into getting them the same type of phone i have so i could show them how to work the darn thing.. the woman i spoke to was very nice and she said she wanted to commend me for showing such love to my grandparents and how there weren't a-lot of people who would do that.
i told her that they were wonderfull grandparents and are really like my parents because they have taken over the parent role to me since my own are in a cult and have disowned my family.. we talked a little about that and i said i wasn't angry with my parents, just sad because they are being tricked into thinking they are doing the right thing...and she asked "if you don't mind saying, what religion are they in?

I totally agree that she is a jw. She knows all the right buzz words. They always stick out like a sore thumb.

I can totally understand the way you feel. I raised my two boys as JWs. Just like a good little witness should, I never let my kids play sports, attend "worldly" parties, all the things you mentioned. You can't imagine how guilty I feel having taken those years away from them. Not letting them be like normal kids. I cannot get those years back (they are both grown) but I have told them both how sorry I am. I have no memories of their birthdays, Christmas, etc. Their dad would always take them to his family's at those times. So, so sad.
I just found this site recently and I am so happy I did. I now don't feel alone like I did. Thanks to all!!

I am so very happy to hear you made that decision. I have been out for about 3 years now but I just found this forum and I am so happy to connect with others on here that truly do understand what it is like, really like in the organization. My eyes are now fully open and yours will be too.
The more you learn about what JWs are really about, you will begin to have peace in your life and can truly have your life back!!
Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing.
