Share one or two interesting things about you we probably didn't know
by Gopher inwe have such an interesting group of people from around the world on this board.
it might be interesting to have a thread where you discuss a hobby, something interesting that happened in the past, somewhere you've been, etc.. not deep, dark confessions - just interesting stuff.. .
* i have travelled into all 48 american states that are not named alaska or hawaii.. * for the past few years, i have had a slight walking impairment due to a form of arthritis known as ankylosing spondylitis.

I make a wicked Pie ... I mean any kind of pie.....lemon merangue, pumpkin, apple (w/ cheddar crust), blueberry, real mincemeat : )

Visit From The Elders
by Lloyd Braun in"well, are we stopped?
" (dark helmet) ... "we're stopped sir" (colonel sanders) - spaceballs 1987. the inevitible and imminent visit that i had hoped was going to be quite a bit further down the road from now has just occurred.
i am growing paranoid while at the same time welcoming this.

Not sure why the "brothers" want to meet with you.
I wish I had taken my father's advice many, many, many years ago. to quote him " people get information on a need to know basis" it's up to you what you tell them. You are not obliged to anyone human being. Didn't Jesus say "confess your sins to no man" right? .
Peace,
Jeanne

Well Cassy,
Shame on your dad! What a lousy thing to do. Good for you to have found someone to spend time with...I wish you all the best in your marriage...and future children.
What a sickly group of people who won't share joys and achievements...... What a sorry lot...not a bit like what Jesus admonished.
Good luck to you and yours, we are here for you.
Love & Peace

Hello, I'm new here!
by Lone_Wolf inmy story is much like others.
i have found a faith to call my own, thankfully.
my parents don't agree with it, though they are very much still in my life, whether it's in my head or on the phone.

Whats the funniest thing you've ever seen happen in the KH?
by shell69 ini remember being a kid and we didnt have the fancy fabric seats, they were plastic stackable chairs all set out in the usual lines.. an elderly bro, rather rotund, farted, the noise so loud and thundering against the plastic seat!
or the time when i must have been about 7, my dad brought his bible study family to their first ever meeting, i had to sit on mums knee.
i recall giving the daughter of the new family a very vigorous v sign during the meeting.

The time a very large sister walked down from the front of the hall and her skirt fell off, All we could see was her Granny Panties (my mother always told us to wear a slip).....she reached down picked up her skirt and marched into the bathroom.
I would have booked it out of the hall so fast, instead, after she was done with the bathroom, walked right back up front and finished out the meeting.

If Your Spouse Told The Elders On U, Is That a Marital or Religious Problem
by minimus inif a faithful devout jw saw her husband on a board like this or reading "apostate" literature, if she was so disturbed by her husband's actions and the husband justified himself, would you think that if she told the elders because she was truly concerned that her mate was going to leave "the truth" and ultimately not make it into the "new system", --------that this was simply a marital issue-----not a religious one?.
your opinions please..

This is a marital problem. But obviously the religion ads a special element to it. And, the sister is afraid....so afraid.... Sad. Sad. Sad.

Apology for raising children in the Truth
by jeanne40love inwould you apologize in writing to your children for raising them in the truth?
i've apologized verbally........ none of them is going to meetings any longer...... my husband and i have been drifting away for several years..... .
i was raised a witness, and thought we were doing the right thing.

Thanks everyone. I'm pleased to say that my adult children are fine with everything. Thankfully they didn't subject themselves to this whole experience much longer then while living at home. My eldest says his head is clear, he holds no grudges, and is fine with how he was raised. My daughter was baptized at 15 and has not ever really had a grasp of the whole "religious experience" she is moving on also.
Our youngest is doing fine, we are trying to be normal loving caring parents giving sold direction to benefit her for her future...and yes I mean college.
