People might have been more cooperative if WT had served something other than generic brands. Penny wise and pound foolish?

Brother Jed
by hilannj inbrother jed came to my college campus today.
he and his partner told us all that we were going to hell for drinking and doing drugs.
i don't get the guy, does he really think that he is going to save anyone telling them that they are going to hell with out even knowing what they do, there was one guy there who is an atheist, but the greatest part was that brother jed even made the christians on campus mad, they felt they we being misrepresented by him, so they made signs that said we are christians and we love everyone!

For the record, Albert Schroeder was married to Charlotte Bowen.
The Gertrude you are thinking of was Poetzinger, married to Martin Poetsinger.
My spelling may be a little off on the surnames.

I believe you. There are too many similarities between what's happening to you and what happened in my family for me to disbelieve. I haven't posted anything about my history because it's as bizarre as what is being told in this thread and truthfully I didn't think I could deal with the nay-sayers.
I think you hit it right here, inactive:
we were told that night it would be announced that we were volunarily stepping down as pioneer.
Now why would the elders want it to appear that you were volunteering? Because they don't want dissention in the congregation! That's the key to the whole thing. They can't kick you out but if it looks like you're going voluntarily then you aren't a good example any more, are you? As good as you were they were/are afraid that others will start to question, start to examine your situation.
You probably don't know the waves you've caused just by being "good Christians". Now you have to be weeded out, but carefully, so you don't suspect it's happening.
The organization looks after itself, not after you, the publisher. Maybe I shouldn't say that, maybe it's dumping too much information on you at one time and will start you thinking that this board is made up of gut-level WT/Jehovah haters but that's not the case; it's just that I've learned over time...and with much pain.
As far as writing to the Society, please be aware that your letter will be forwarded to your local elders. "Brooklyn" doesn't handle local matters, they bounce them right back. Anyone can write to them though, and anyone can call; they will listen but won't tell you anything definitive, just bounce it back to the locals again.
It feels odd saying even this much. I could say a lot more but again, I haven't told my story and I don't think I'm up to it today. I only mention mine because it resonates with the story you tell. There may be gaps in what you say but I think it's because you don't know yourself what's missing. If you did you wouldn't need to post here, you'd already know the answers.
Shaken to read your experience!

Help needed: Killing the 'The light gets brighter' argument?
by jah1914 inso after the revelation study last night where the paragraph was talking about how russell's interpertation of revelation basically didn't work and got discarded, my wife comments with the same old,"the light gets brigther, that's why i respect fds because at least they will change when they figure out something is wrong.
" (insert vomit here) afterwards, me and the book study conductor(i have to at least give him credit, he is someone i can talk to freely about my questions and he has not,as of yet, turned me in) got into a discussion of what 'the light gets brighter' really means.
he basically says so the brothers have made changes, so what?

Did anyone else notice that most of the responses have discussed the analogy instead of the poster's question?
Getting a person to stick to the point goes a long way in demolishing false reasoning.

We were at one of the 5 weekly meetings crucial to our survival when the quake hit.
Of course someone had to make the comment: "Well at least we're in the safest place we could be."
Many years ago this story was popular: In a Latin American country an earthquake occurred during the meeting. The elders at one Hall gathered in the back and, after offering a prayer, advised the congregation to stay in the Hall. When the meeting ended and they headed for home they saw that the Kingdom Hall was the only building left standing on the street. At another Hall in the area the elders did a similar thing, they prayed and advised the congregation to head for the street. A few moments later that Hall collapsed.

Now there's news....they're still saying 5.6...I think it was worse. The epicenter is about 10 iles fro where I am. Some of my neighbors lost cable service and cell phone service. All the elderly people are trickling downstairs to the Community Room now. I guess they're worried about aftershocks.
i've been through many earthquakes in CA. This one was strange; it sounded like thunder the whole time! The building rocked side to side, reeeeeally rocked!
Ah, well.....back to your regularly scheduled programming!
