Speaking of fading...

i just read another posting about a fella fading, and it brought to mind the following.. on the weekends, i go to a local coffee shop in the am for coffee and a little breakfast taco.

i usually sit at the counter, where i also read my electronics-related magazines and i also write thoughts in a gridded-paper notebook.

i immediately pegged them as jws - it was too easy.

my 17 year old son told his dad that he didn't want to be a jw anymore about 8 months ago i think, and doesn't go to meetings or assemblies.

he's been accepted to one of the best universities in the country and will start this fall, with his dad's blessing.

their congregation had the summer convention this past weekend.

Have you, as a parent, informed these "elders" that they have no legal (much less organizational) right to communicate with your son *and* that you, as legal custodian, will not permit it? Even if your JW husband fails to object to the meeting you are still equal in terms of legal guardianship. Use your legal authority to protect your child!

Summer is here and I am Mean Mommie

*rolls eyes* my dear hubby rented 3 movies, one of them was "juno".

i kindly requested that the children were not to see that movie.

just a moment ago my hubby came down stairs alone and i asked where were the children.

For me this film isn't about teen pregnancy, it's about immature people making major life decisions on their own.

I wouldn't want an immature person to watch it without a mature person on hand to balance the info.

i need help with a work situation.

background, i work part time at an office where the owner vince, has a brother, gerry who is kind of a manager, he actually hired me 2 1/2 yrs ago.

the office is small, 2 other women work there in the evenings with me, altho another relative of v & g just started (their nephew, very young).

Everything that you are thinking makes good sense to me except the courtesy part. Please continue to say the customary "hello's" and "goodbye's", that's just natural human decency. You didn't like being mistreated, why stoop to mistreating others?

You did well to talk to your boss about Gerry rather than to go to Gerry himself. In personal relations it's best to go directly to the other person, at work all things should be handled through the boss.

Document! Document! Document! Write a statement describing the situation and give it to your boss. Keep a copy, of course. Do not share the contents with your co-workers either verbally or by sharing your copy of the statement. "He said" "She said" doesn't hold water in a situation like this. Write it down and turn it in!

You are completely correct that if you are accepting of this situation that you will be losing ground and in line for more of the same. It's not unreasonable to want the air cleared. Just remember, it's different at work than in personal situations; at work Gerry answers to his boss and the boss transmits information to you. That means that an apology directly to you from Gerry probably won't happen, it's just not businesslike. Try not to look at that as a sign of disrespect, it may just be that the boss is trying to get things back on track and handled correctly. Remember, it was a misdirected communication that began this whole thing! Let Gerry talk to the boss and the boss talk to you; that will be the real victory.

In the future, accept direction only from your boss unless he directs (in writing or in a group meeting where you have reliable witnesses to his words) otherwise.

is the governing body operating seriously out of the belief that they are god's only channel to mankind?

or are they deliberately scamming people?

Update: Accordnig to information received from the person to whom these words were spoken, Dan Sydlik's actual words were: "We should just start from Genesis 1:1 and reexamine everything we believe." The source person further stated: "I do not recall him saying that we should scrap everything, but the implication was that there would be no holds barred. We could question anything."

Just what was this evidence? How was it confirmed? What witness did "the spirit" give?
