So...how to get UN NGO *book*
by Xander ini know i've seen reference to the un ngo listing document somewhere.
as i recall, the '2002' edition was published before the wtbts withdrew from the un, such that they were still listed in it.
now, my family (all good jws) are insisting we come over for my mom's anniversary and i'm, like, 100% sure they are planning on bringing up our recent very obviously anti-jw behavior.

Writerpen....LOL...don't know...I've never ben a witness...tho I was raised catholic untill I started to ask questions they could not answer...(i was about 8 at the time) and said "well this is nuts"..lol. I don't think I could have ever made a good witness...I have never been one to just take someones word for it....so..I guess the answer is nope no change...the sex is as good as ever...DAMN good.
simon...yea..it's amazeing when I also tell her some of the more outlandish things about there history...she gives the "your full of s**t look"...then of course she has to go to the elders and tell them about this "crazy thing my husband told me" and they end up saying *looking at toes* well...er...yea...he's right. God she hates that...LOL!...I know that she hears what I tell her even when the apostate sheilds go up because of this. She also has the habit of getting really PISSED when I bring things up and she knows in the back of her mind that I am right. The anger is a protective reaction to fear...yes I have insisted that she get counceling or me and the kids are OUT...she has said ok.
Jeff...I actually live in Eugene OR...but I did see that your town has seen some excitement to day with the Werehauser plant explodeing...i work for them here I cant wait to see all of the meetings we are going to have now....
ISP, bod, and valis...would LOVE too....but...lol...I got the kids....wont let them go to this stupid convention, the kingdom hall, or anything else...got to keep them protected...so while I would say PARTY PARTY PARTY normally....I can't...someones got to keep a good responsible head on there shoulders here for the kids...guess that's me...sigh. Would love to drink em down with ya valis...but you can keep the beer..if it aint falmable it's not worth drinken...(must be the irish blood in me)...lol
I cant wait for her to get back...she can tell me all about it and I can yawn and say...yep...I know heard all about it weeks ago....you read your new book yet?...notice anything?...LOL

Vulgar
by truthseeker1 ini've got a question.... vulgar comes from lating vulgate (sp?
) which means common, correct?
vulgar words like sh*t, fu*k, co*k, c*nt, ect are just terms used by the common people.

I have had some fun on this subject.....i would propose that Jesus used vulger language. cuss words are defined by the culture (hence "bloody" is not a cuss word in the US but over in the UK it is)..Correct me if im wrong on that one....the one thing that is common about cuss words in an culture is that the intent of the word is not very nice. so the main thing to me is that it is not the word but the intent...now...remember when jesus called the money changers
(among others) a brood of vipers? That was NOT a nice thing to say back then...vipers were very much hated. I would venture to say that if he was saying that in our culture today he would say "you sons of bitches!"...the point is he was useing strong language to make his point. my wife does not see it that way though...sigh...she asked "well i suppose you think he did drugs too!"...I said well yes...alcohol is a drug..no way around that...and yes he drank alcohol...so yes he did drugs too. she did not like that very much...but could not refute it. Does anyone know for sure what was considered "strong language in jesus's day? I would be interested in seeing that. I would think that calling someone one of the most hated things in there culture at the time would qualify.FRUSR8TD

For that matter does anyone know if they are really JW's....there are others that use the name Jehovah as well. My dads evangelical church even uses the name in some songs.

JWs Assigned to Fetch Lost Sheep Here?
by HomebutHiding ini have been pondering the whys of jws who regularly, and not-so regularly post to the board.
the possibility then struck me that maybe they are assigned--have special dispensation--to associate here in order to retrieve any "misguided" or "lost" sheep and bring them back into their fold.
or are they, thenselves, on the edge, wanting the freedom we now have?

Flowerpetal
I am very glad too see that you have decided to think for yourself and separate the org. from jehovah. I think however that you may be the exception that proves the rule. My mother in-law was assualted by an elder that took out to "shepard" her and tried to get down her pants. long story short...he got a "severe talking too" by the CO and nothing more. He has not admitted to it and so nothing else has happened. I asked my mother in-law why she did not go to the authorities and she said "I do not want to bring reproch to Jehovah's name". Most "rank and file" very clearly equate the org. directly with Jehovah. Incedently I told her that if one person mugs another and they both happen to be cathlolic, you never hear that in the news report...(unless of course it has something to do with the motivation). The very simple fact is that the vast majority of JW's simply put the "organisation" and jehovah at the same level. I never have been a witness and can only see this as a form of idol worship.
Keep up the freedom of thinking flowerpetal....you have the true meaning of a relationship with Jehovah...no matter what the religin may be.
best of wishes.....FRUSR8TD

www.do-not-call.org - BACK ONLINE!
by nicolaou inthe do-not-call site is back online and simplified for ease of use.
there is still a lot more to do but from the public's point of view, the site is functional - they can stop jehovah's witnesses calling!.
i'm looking for accounts of shunning and family distress caused by watchtower policy that are suitable for posting on the site, if any of you have already shared your story here, and would be happy to see it over there, perhaps you'd be kind enough to post the link?.
