Children are a Gift from God
by inbyathread ina preacher and his wife wanted to have a child but didn't think they could afford on his small allowance from the church.
he spoke to the congregation and they agreed that he could get a raise if he and his wife have children.. six children later the congregation come to the preacher and tell him that they cannot afford to continue supporting him as his family is getting way too large.
he says "but children are a gift from god!".

Can men discuss feminism critically?
by Paralipomenon ini am currently studying some of the issues of the feminist movement.
one of my first observations is that men are really not welcome in the discussion.
all the reference books and topics i have looked at so far are written by women.

of course! men can and SHOULD be critical of the feminist movement. im female, but im not so keen on feminism. im all for equality, but we must acknowledge that we are different creatures. in trying to be like men we have somehow lost who we are. that is in part feminism's doing. so be critical I say!

How Honest Are You Really???
by minimus inhere's the scenario: you buy an item and it's on sale for 10% off the original price.
a new cashier charges you, instead of 10% off, 10 cents!
this happened to a woman who bought a leather coat among other things and when she reviewed her slip she knew absolutely that the new cashier messed up.

im so honest its annoying! when it comes to money and paying for shit Im just so switched on that if its not right (even when its in my favour) i involuntarily point it out....seriously, i dont think Id have a problem walking away if i consciously knew i was being undercharged....but its just force of habit. doesn't matter too much i spose...its only creating good karma.

Going to other churches, religion after being a Dub???
by bluesbreaker59 inso, ever since i was a little kid, i always wondered about other faiths.
because i was born and raised a dub, only went inside of two other churches in my life for weddings.
as many of you know, i was just df'd at the beginning of this year.

having been raised hardcore JW has pretty much destroyed any chance of me ever being able to have any other faith. i actually find this REALLY annoying, as I'd really love to be a half arsed Christian that can go to church at Christmas and Easter without that overpowering feeling of hypocrisy. Unfortuantely as JWs we've been taught to analyse everything and most religions and their practices will never stand up to scrutiny...

What "Unwritten Rules" Did Your Congregation Have?
by minimus ini knew of a hall that allowed only white shirted speakers on the platform for sunday public talks!
when a visiting speaker did not wear the official white shirt he was either told that he couldn't give the talk or he could change shirts,as the hall kept a variety of sizes, just in case of an emergency!!!
i don't make this up.

Vocalization about being a JW v. being an XJW
by sweetface2233 ini know that a lot of jws are very proud of being jws, but ever since i can remember i would be very quiet about it.
i wouldn't announce it at school or work.
i would shy away from the subject.

i was never ashamed of being a JW...mind you i was pretty naive, i didnt realise how people perceived us. these days i keep it very much on the down low...
