because some of us could do with a good laugh .
this one was from mutual community selling health insurance.

for all the Aussies on the board, Im sure we can all appreciate the Telstra BigPond ads..."my dad n'used to play for Collingwood"...cracks me up every time.
i have started this thread so that every time i see a new one i can point out how old that idea is.
congratulations.
it's great that you have obviously been able to get out without being harmed in some way - really, i'm happy for you.
I think that anger is part of the healing process, but it stops being a step towards healing and becomes a way of life then you will find me saying "get over it".
I'm reminded of an individual on Gabbly a couple months ago that would keep interrupting the conversation with venomous comments, completely at random too.
It was obvious he wanted to get something off his chest so we asked him about his upbringing.
He was never a witness.
Ooooookay, so how did he know the witnesses?
He studied for 5 months before seeing the truth.
Interesting, and still so upset?
YES! F**K that cult and their S**T
Wow, so how long ago was this?
Back in 1992.
...
...
Okay, get over it.
too funny
im ashamed at how long it took me to open this thread. thats super cute.
i am currently studying some of the issues of the feminist movement.
one of my first observations is that men are really not welcome in the discussion.
all the reference books and topics i have looked at so far are written by women.
i think my head is about to explode
did you think you were better than everyone else?
did you talk down to people?
were you a know-it-all?
i wasn't a jerk, my dad was though. i was your typical elders daughter. a goody two shoes square who was never invited to any of the cool kids get togethers cos they were all scared of me :(
when my mum went to her first meeting she was dressed to perfection, she wore nice ladies dress trouser/pants.
the witness stuying with her told her it was "not apropriate" to wear this to the meeting...in 2006 i was in a congregation where a sister would put a skirt on over her pants she wore to work.
it looked weird, but the pants ban still is in force 2007.
i never got the no pants rule either. i was always told it was a respect issue...showing respect whilst in Gods house. now, if sisters started wearing suit pants it would invariably lead to a more casual style of dress and they were fearful that everyone would start wearing jeans.
as a jw i was brought up to believe the bible was the word of god, didn't contradict itself and could answer all our questions.
i loved the bible and took the words of proverbs 2 literally, where it says if you call out for undestanding and search for it you will find the very knowledge of god.
i studied the bible as jw's recomend, but found that it left me with more questions than answers and this eventually led me out of the "truth," as i discovered many contradictions in both the hebrew and the greek scriptures and instances where the apostle paul even contradicts jesus words.. in the most important event of bible history, (the death of jesus) the gospel writers can't even agree on the sequence of events and who he appeared to first after his resurrection.
im not too keen on the bible. never was.
