  I would like to know if you have succeeded in helping your friends or family SLOW DOWN in their zeal as a JW

  i have read thousands of posts on this forum, and i am finding with all your experiences that however hard we try, it's difficult to actually get a family member or friend to disassociate themselves.

  after all, some of us are still "active jw's", right?.

  but, i have been noticing that some seem to have accomplished enough with questions and comments that at least their family members or friends are less active as jw's.

  I got my wife out and I directly helped a friend leave. I also indirectly helped 2 others, one of whom also helped me. I think I've also convinced my dis-fellowshipped sister in law never to go back, although the local congregation has already done a really good job of alienating her. I just delivered the coup de grace. I know one I have helped has also helped others out and so on.

  The problem the organisation has is their own idiotic policies. They have a large number of resentful people trapped in congregations who are unable to leave. Like a cancer they eat away at the other members. Lets just hope it's terminal.

  The Void!

  hi guys.

  i need a little more advise, i have spoken to a couple of friends about this void i'm currently experiencing after leaving ( being ignored so decided to leave) the jws.. i feel alone, i'm now longer allowed on the ministry and im not having to study for meetings, so i have this massive great hole in my life.. it's the mental agony as well, kind of knowing that friends that you thought would always be there, arent any more.

  and after two years of indoctrination, i feel that im displeasing jehovah or abandoning god.. my head was screwed anyway from ten years of depression and this thing with the jws has really taken its toll.. if you had any coping mechanisms i would love to know.. thank you in advance for your support x .

  Could Watchtower Collapse Be Sooner Than You Think?

  there have been a number of developments over the past few months and they paint an interesting picture.. witnesses can keep dragging themselves to meetings ad infinitum however, the future of the watchtower itself is another story.

  the evidence of continuing cash flow problems is now overwhelming.

  if you talk to well placed witnesses, most won't deny it but simply blame it on the publishers financial problems.. they have cut off loans to congregations many of whom genuinely need new kingdom halls.

  I actually think that a big expansion is in the making myself. The drama this year focused on parents helping their youth with interactive family studies, get-togethers, etc. If the congos actually apply all that, the real love will come, and many, many will be attracted.

  This will only happen if they drop the shunning and I can't see that happening anytime soon. So the slow bleed continues.........

  So my mom now knows I'm apostate

  i finally broke my silence yesterday in a discussion with my mom.

  for months now i have been dropping hints here and there that i am not pleased with many things happening in the org, but i would always present it from a concerned jw prospective.

  my wife wants us to remain closet jw's because she has bigger reservations of displeasing her family than i do, and wants to continue playing the game.. yesterday however my wife wasn't around, and for the 100th time my mom was ragging on me for attending one of my best friend's weddings because he was marrying a non jw, and the fact that his df'd brother was there.

  I went through a similar process, i found it harder and harder to be around witnesses without saying something.

  In the end I decided I wouldn't play the game anymore.

  families with younger children had to sit in the last 3 rows or they were counseled!.

  disfellowshipped persons were told not to sit next to each other and talk because it "looks like they're unrepentant"..

  I Talked to My Mom Today...

  during a discussion about informing everyone about my uncle's sudden passing.

  i said to her, "being that joe died so suddenly and is younger than you, are you sure you want to keep shunning me?".

  her answer was, of course, to "come back to jehovah".

  Well, that's not correct. In the past 21 years we've had about 3 limited conversations. Two were about family health history and this last one about a death in the family. Unless you're talking about all family members being deceased.

  That is tragic, really sorry to hear that. This is why the organisation has to be destroyed or change it's ways.

  Their harsh rules and the internet are having an impact on their numbers. Witnesses are just getting tired of the relentless pressure to preach and the end always being just around the corner.

  But as another poster pointed out, their collapse could come suddenly if they make a really stupid policy descision or a large catholic style pedophile pay out case.
