  the 1 chronicles author lists the descendents of david; some of these, in order, are jehoshaphat, jehoram, ahaziah, joash, amaziah, azariah, jotham, ahaz, hezekiah, manasseh (1 chronicles 3:10-13 niv).

  the matthew author contradicts this genealogy; he leaves out the four consecutive descendents underlined above, and in their place puts uzziah, who he says is jehorams son.

  (matthew 1:8-10 niv).

  Rex,

  There are no gods. A being who may be godlike in power but refuses to show itself is not a god. Hypothesizing such an entity is unnecessary and pointless. Rex, you should learn the difference between faith without evidence and trust based on experience and reason. You should also learn the procedure for quoting other people's work.

  why haz this debate on (evolution v/s creation) stil lively & well after all these years, when,it iz impossible to prove either case?.

  posters like (jan) exibit lots of arrogance & name calling when challanged, why?.

  my theory: people that have been involved in some religion (like the borg),after finding out they have been deceived swing their scale too far to the opposite side in a typical "overaction!

  Of course I don't because no such evidence can possibly exist, even in principle. No matter how many tests show absolutely no evidence of a spirit world, there is always the theoretical possibility that gods or spirits exist and are simply hiding.

  No, my lack of belief is based on a lack of evidence. Things I postively believe in are supported by evidence, otherwise I wouldn't believe in them. If the evidence I have turns out to be faulty, then I change my beliefs. That's how I learn.

  You seem to be very arrogant to be honest. I was having a debate about things, but you have consistently said things which I consider to be insulting. Funkyd is right, everyone else is wrong.

  I didn't mean to be insulting. I was challenging your beliefs, not you. I don't get upset when my beliefs are challenged, and I sometimes forget that other people do. It's better not to but I respect your right to do so
  I'm not certain that I'm right, but if I didn't think I was right, I would change my beliefs until I did. And if I'm right, you must be wrong.

  Ever heard of respecting other peoples views? Ever heard of religious tolerance?

  I respect your right to hold whatever views you like, and I would defend you against anyone who tried to take those rights away. But I also have rights. My right to express my beliefs includes the right to challenge other people's beliefs. Believe in fairy tales if you wish but on a public discussion board, you should expect unsupported claims to be challenged. Try not to take it personally.

  Monkey trial

  it seems this whole debate, (creation v/s evolution) iz coming to the fore again, along with (religion v/s state) debate.

  my sister iz a producer for pbs & haz a documentary coming up on the scopes or (monkey trial), & i think little haz changed.. i am non-religious, but i can't help laughing when arguements are made claiming man & monkeys share common ansesters, although a few individuals on my wifes side make me wonder.

  i am not saying, i have the answers, but man iz just so radicaly different from animals!

  In what way does the second article you posted demonstrate that evolution is not a fact? I disn't get that from it but it's fairly technical. Would you care to explain it for us lay people?
