Other than paying taxes the Bible says this about human efforts, "Acceptance of the Nation-State as a legitimate source of authority led to nationalism.
Where does the Bible say that, Bleep?
we have close friends who secretly became jw's.
now that they are "out" they say that war is wrong and our son shouldn't join the military.
we know that war is not what god wants, however, we need scripture to back defending our country and protecting our loved ones.

DNA has no rights, only an animal with human DNA has human rights
OK, so now we're getting somewhere. So this depends on how you define animal. It seems to be from the moment of conception, based on the fact that there is then a collection of cells different from the mother's. Why do you take this definition above any of the other possible ones?
If you believe humans have more rights than animals, then why use this definition? What is it about the DNA being different from that of the mother that is so important that for you it defines the beginning of personhood?

first you need some anti-matter,if you can get enough of this in one place you should be able open a hole in space.
then 2 uncharged metal plates.
separate them in space to create a vacuum.
recent observations ahve proven that the speed of light has been slowing down for millions of years, and that it is NOT a constant speed
As I understand it, the data that suggest are also consistent with an accelerating expansion rate for the universe and a constant speed of light, although I'm not up to date on the most recent discoveries.
(Some young-earth creationists have claimed that light has slowed down since the creation 6000 years ago, and used false data to "prove" it, in an effort to reconcile their beliefs with observable reality.)
And I thought Einstein was mostly accurate in terms of the big picture, but that relativity fell apart on the small, i.e. quantum, scale.

what ever happened to einstiens theory of exceeding the speed of light ?
Einstein's theory was that nothing could exceed the speed of light, not that if you did you'd travel back in time. Time does slow as you approach the speed of light though, so if you went shooting off through the galaxy for a few hours, you could return home many years later, although you could never go back.
or the theory of going opposite the rotation of the earth like in superman the movie?Erm, that wasn't a theory. That was a plot device.
I do not take action in the worldly affairs.
Why not? Does your religion encourage isolation from the rest of the world?
Never do we try to convert someone over to be a JW. We are trying to encourage Bible reading.
So what's the "offer" for this month, Bleep? The Bible, or a Watchtower publication? If someone says they already read the Bible, do you just bid them a good day and leave? The normal modus operandi of JWs is to try to "place" literature, to return to the person to place more literature and/or start a "Bible" study with one of the Watchtower's publications. The goal of those studies is the baptism of the person as a JW. Everything about the preaching work done by JWs is geared towards converting them
today i questioned my mother about the fact that she told me ?
yrs ago how she lost 2 kids through a miscarriage but then later told me she aborted them, well i didnt know what to say, but then later questioned her about this i asked her why she did it, she told me that she was already bringing up me and my sister and financialy impossible to look after two more kids, well i didnt agree with that reason or any reason to kill the unborn she then said she wasnt in the truth then "huh what difference does that make".
then she gave an illustration of reasons when you should condone abortion and it goes like this, if you were raped and later found out you were pregnant what would you do she seemed to say she would abort it,i said i wouldnt if that happened to my wife i said i would probably end up having it adopted, after all its better than murder.. how has this affected my familys view on abortion i wonder, well i have 5 sisters and 1 more brother, and already my brother in cold blood made his girlfriend abort hers due to the inconvienience, and also my older sister had hers aborted 2 yrs ago because the father didnt want to know with out a hint of regret,so im now starting to see a pattern in my family, whos to blame them or my mother as a role model.. so to cut a long story short do you think killing an unborn child is murder, would you do it under certain scenarios.
Good points LucidSky. Another moral issue is the question of whether a human being can ever demand the use of another human being's body to sustain its life.

Gritsgirl, I don't have much info on the Watchtower's 100th birthday bash. I don't have access to much Watchtower stuff at the moment, but I remember they definitely celebrated somethig. A special issue of one or both of the magazines anyway. Perhaps someone with the CD or bound volumes can check.
i was wondering what has been the most embarrassing question asked of you by a family member.
the reason why i'm asking is because i have just had an unforgettable experience with my grandmother.
my sister, grandmother and i were sitting at the kitchen table at my mom's birthday party.
Do what I do. If my mother asks me about my sex life, I answer completely honestly. She doesn't ask much anymore!
just want to take a pole describing our father in heaven.
God is a monster in your bedroom that turns into a pile of clothes when you turn the light on.

Willy, you seem to be choosing your definitions and criteria in order to support your belief that abortion at any stage is wrong. Your main criterion seems to be that unique human DNA has human rights, but it doesn't necessarily have to be unique, and sometimes even if it is it doesn't count. It only seems to apply when referring to foetal tissue. Why is that?
