Deuteronomy 22 :13-21. Sensible teaching. Lots of it in the Old Testament. Words to live by. (not)

Do You Accept ALL Of The Bible As Being 100% Truth?
by minimus indo you believe the bible is unfallible, unerring and totally accurate?.
do you believe the bible is a "good book" with much good about it but not something that should be totally believed?.
do you not believe in the bible at all as being "god's word"?.

IT IS THE BEST WAY OF LIFE, says my Dub sister.
by wobble inas some may remember, i posted about being dubious as to accepting anniversary presents this year from my super-dub family, esp.
my older sister.. well we agreed with the consensus on here that it was best to accept with gratitude and this we have done, but i would just like to reproduce what she wrote in the card accompanying the present and flowers.. after the happy anniversary she wrote :.
"it makes us sad to think of all the anniversaries past when you were part of our christian congregation.

I found that as long as you talk about faith issues, they believe they still have a chance to suck you back into the fold. That seems their only purpose in life. I also found that they have answers to almost every question that you throw at them. If not, they call the 1-800 help line. The one question I asked was actually a comment. I asked him that if all human life came from Adam and Eve, then there was some serious incest. Could you please comment. He could find no explanation. I also asked him about why so many differences in the races around the world. He babbled something about genetic defects. I said that it appeared then that God made mistakes. His response was to forget I even asked the questions.
Therefore I believe a discussion with them is futile.
I suppose you should just talk only about issues not related to the cult and ignore all the "borg" stuff.

How "worldly" people REALLY view Jehovah's Witnesses
by HappyGuy inwhen you are a jw it is pounded into your head that the "world" hates you, wants to kill you, runs around saying all kinds of horrible things about you, and would take away all your rights, freedom of religion, etc, if it could.. when i first left the wtbts organization i told "worldly" friends and family about being a jehovah's witness.
not one of them said anything disrespectful, rude, insulting, or even unkind in any way.
i could just as well have said "i'm a baptist", or "i like comic books".. a few people who know that the wtbts is a cult were concerned over my emotional health, but that was out of a sense of friendship.. i have never met anyone who on hearing the phrase "jehovah's witness" got upset or said "those xxxxx".

After associating with a witness years ago I can sum up my opinion with one word. Witnesses are "Scared".
Carpediem incorrectly summed up how we deal with witnesses as shunning. I find that with so many things happening around the world, and just one topic witnesses can discuss, they are void of the ability to think for themselves and thus have no opinion of anything other than their faith.
Why would a non believer associate with someone so incredibly BORING!!! I don't shun witnesses, but for my well being I find absolutely nothing in common with witnesses, therefore I spend most of my time with people capable of an intelligent discussion. If necessary, I have no problem dealing with a witness, but I sure as hell will not make an effort to communicate.
Besides all of this, isn't the sole purpose of witnesses to preach to non believers so THEY can convert, and thus save themselves from their own pitiful destruction. It's a sad broken record. It actually reminds me of a broken record that keeps skipping.
On a brighter note, the family is happily listening to Christmas music while baking cookies. Smells good.
Enjoy the holidays everyone....and yes , to all you witnesses as well!!!

This sounds like a lame attempt to find out if you are still in. Or a pathetic attempt to stop your festivities. A simple response is to invite them at another time after the holidays. Or you could be honest and say the tree stays, but you have a free will to do what you wish, but be prepared for a celebration. Good luck!

Democrats WANT Babies to Die
by AwSnap inhahahahaha!....i heard this from a jw today!
they said, "i don't know which is which, but one of them is more conservative (i said 'i think that's republicans) and tend to do things more along the lines of the bible.
and then the other party (democrats) is kind of wild and pushes for abortions and gay marriage.

Pallemar...."recepi for abortion in the bibel". Use spellcheck before posting. Your comments will look more credible if you do. As far as what the bible says about when life begins. Try Genesis 2 v6,7.

I believe that the only cure for what is ailing you right now is to replace your pet with one in more need. Your shelter can provide you with another soulmate. In our house, we just wait patiently and animals simply appear at our door. We have two cats that get on each others nerves, so we decided to make it worse by throwing a hairy teacup chihuahua into the mix. (all were newborns) The chasing around the entire house all day is a sight to see. The dog is such a shit disturber.
On a sad note, we had to put to rest an older cat we rescued many years ago. She had a bad habit of chewing herself 'till she bled everywhere. Her name was "Tribble". Looked like one of those tribbles from that old episode of Star Trek. We had her for about 10 years.
My condolences to you . Bill.

MY FIRST DOUBT
by goldensky indear all,.
i posted my first thread a few days ago and some of you asked me questions i'm more than willing to answer.
but there is so much i want to say to you there's no way i can convey all the information at one sitting, so i've decided to tackle one subject at a time, both for the sake of not boring you and because i'd love to know how you feel about each individual topic.

I am truly surprised here with this thread. I am so glad there appears to be independant thought from posters and not the usual crap and political brainless rants.
As I have said to a former JW friend. "What would Jesus think (or do)". Would he set up everything based on a talking snake? And if all life came from just 2 people, then incest was rampant then. It's all hard to swallow. Just live a decent life, somewhat like Jesus did.
I wanted to ask about the discussion in this thread about animal abuse. Could someone elaborate on what was touched on at the beginning please? Thanks, Bill.

JW wedding reception - Should I go? Would you?
by Girlie ini've been invited to attend a wedding reception of a "sister" that i was formerly close with.
there was no major breaking up of the friendship or anything, other than her not liking a statement i made.
just a distancing apart.

The fact that this is a JW wedding adds one more reason in the " HELL NO" column.

What do non witnesses actually think about the evil practice of disfellowshipping?
by jambon1 inwhenever i have mentioned this practise to people who don't know much about the witnesses (although they should know about them due to the worldwide preaching activity .
to most right thinking people it is absolutely just not an option to have no contact with your immediate family.. one lady said to me "i'd rather rip my heart out".. what has been your experience when people find out that jw's carry out this evil practise?.

And the Witnesses deny that they "shun". It's like looking at a turd on the ground and calling it a pretty rose. "What would Jesus do"? Sure as hell not that. Glad I am a Worldly person. Glad to have the internet to do the research on these non thinkers. At least they got the "slave" part right.

Universal Health Care, Pluses and Minuses
by watson init's a little late to be posting something like this, but i hope you can help me a little.
i would really like to review some of the pluses and minuses of universal type health care.
so here are some for consideration.

This is the most unrational discussion I have seen on your healthcare debate. If this is as good as it gets, you all should give up. North of the 49th , our system may be flawed somewhat (and the other side of the Atlantic), but NO ONE loses their home. I just cannot understand all the hate and misinformation. Everyone on this planet deserves minimum health care. Anything else is unGodly. Some of you that call yourselves godly? Hard to believe in these discussions. Good luck Barack. Pretty messed up.
