Because it's always nice to lend an ear. Most ppl here are mature enough to carry on a polite conversation.
Not so good elsewhere , such as (CL-R&R). It's awful what people say on the Vancouver one when pond scum hide behind a firewall w/o a mod.

it's gonna be 63 degrees tomorrow and for the rest of the week here in new england.
i'll be playing outdoor tennis pretty soon and i've got to get back into some semblance of shape.. what suggestions do you have?.
Dr.Oz reccomends at least 10,000 steps a day. I do more than that most days when the rain stops. I deliver flyers on a casual basis and bring up the total to over 30,000 steps. Take the chihuahua out for a walk to the beach.
Only if I could see my brother, and parents just to say thanks for my life. Otherwise, I think not. But whatever reality is, I will accept.
i figured that after reading the suicide thread through, we need a more positive thread.. so what makes you happy?
?.
Phone calls from friends. Short trips, long trips, ANY trip! A trip to a buffet is good too. 60's and 70's music. Taking the chihuahua for a walk on a warm day. A really windy day. Flowers and seeds in the garden coming up. Waking up and seeing I am still here for yet another fun filled day. Dark chocolate. Not a swimmer, but I like being in a warm pool. Seeing friends in Mexico City (new friends). Going for walks by the beach.
yes, this is a dual post because i'm lazy like that.
and i figure some of you might thank me for rolling my 2 questions/posts into one convenient click for you.
first things first: i am writing an argumentative essay this week on any topic of my choice for an english class.
Be sure to include the fact that every Witness will deny that they must shun. They repeat the same talking point that they just want you back. We disfellowship, but will never EVER say they shun.
2 faced liars. I think that was the turning point for me when I was doing a bible study with one. I asked him what I was referred to as an outsider. I already knew the answer, but wanted to hear it from him. I actually saw him squirm in his seat as I pointed out that we are to be destroyed. My final religious conversation with him ended by saying "why would I associate with anyone who wants me dead? Did he learn anything? Probably not, except he knows he has no friends outside the Org. He did have one before that day.
Does he care? Well, I figure that as long as the world continues, and the pressure to believe that it's moments away surely must take its toll. Like crying wolf. The ticking clock of doubt.
Good luck with the essay. Try to have a positive ending. Everyone prefers a good ending.
minimus got me thinking with his thread about whether or not you know anyone that committed suicide.
i think it might be interesting to see what the opinions are.. what do you think?.
are there cases where it is understandable?
Can't answer that question. I suppose the victims of suicide cannot either.
The JW idea of living forever does not appeal to me either.
Short answer. No.
lately, i've come to find out that a more than a few people in the area had killed themselves.
most of the people i know of were in their early twenties or forties.
for those loved ones surviving them, it was mostly a shock!
April 7, 1995. My drugged up brother put a gun to his head. April 9 - taken off of life support and died. I feel sorry for the man as his parents were far from role models. I rejected their "I Love Lucy" mentality. Drinking, smoking, violence.
Didn't make it to 35. Still miss him. His name was Mark. His ashes were released into the Pacific ocean 10 years later, along with his dad.
Bill.
not alot of things buzzing on here, nor anywhere else for that matter.
i tend to like quiet days now and again..
Bit o' slush here in Vancouver this morning. Followed by wind.
I truly believe that as well. I always feel the need to do some good. Not because someone is watching, but because it is just right. Even just picking up garbage on our street.
10 years ago, a "friend" spread some hateful (and false)
rumours around that eventually went back to my wife.
The person that spread it had his colon burst, and almost died.
The individual that started it lost his son in a car accident a few years later.
All I wanted was an apology, no harm, or at least a retraction. It's been about 15 years.
Still waiting.
