So sorry to hear of Megan's accident and send all my best wishes for her speedy recovery

in a sense its my fault, i made her take a look in the loft to see what she wanted me to take down.
anyway while she was perched on top of the ladder, she slipped back and banged her head/neck/back.
she is ok, up, smiling and joking compared to before when things looked quite serious.
So sorry to hear of Megan's accident and send all my best wishes for her speedy recovery

Hello renegade and welcome to JWD.

dansk's christmas tree thread got me to thinking .. in this house we do not celebrate since my wife is still a die hard dub.
i have no complaints about that, it was our joint choice for decades and i an the one that changed .but as witnesses we were always given the negative view of the holiday time :-.
"people feel that they just have to do it although they do not really want to".
When I was a child I loved Christmas. I got so excited waiting for Santa to come and it was a nice family affair. Now I think it is far too commercialised and the pressure for many people to spend lots of money they haven't got is terrible. I still love the decorations and christmas tree with all the pretty lights, giving out cards and presents though.

i'll start.
rubbing the stubble on the nape of your neck all day the day you get a haircut...
Playing knock down ginger, jacks, conkers, rounders, swimming in the river, Saturday morning cinema, Dutch skipping. Great memories!!

imho....it all needs to go.
its influencing everything in this world every and anywhere.
from the saudies, to the people in irag, iran and anywhere else our sons will need to be sent.. our current president claims he is influenced along with the former prime minister of england by religious beliefs.. there is the huge evangelical influence that got bush and the mess he made who put them in to begin with.. we have the jw's causing absolute havic in anyone's lives connected with this stupidity.. it goes on and on and on.
Religious organizations are not important for having a faith and/or personal relationship with God. It is good to be with people who have the same belief and to encourage one another but that is all IMO.

i was thinking it might be a good idea to come up with a website like happyexjws.com where we record a short video of ourselves saying we are now happy and briefly explaining why.
kind of like the atheist group who's members blaspheme against the holy spirit.
thoughts?.
I am happy that I'm not under the WT mind control now and all the deceit, fear, guilt and exploitation that goes with being a JW. I still have family that are "in" and that makes me very sad but I live in hope that they will leave one day. I guess at this time I am still adjusting to life after the borg so it's not always easy. My attitude to life is changing and I feel a freedom now and not so bogged down and repressed, which is good.

do you think believe that once a person leaves the organization that they are all that much different from what they were as witnesses?
is there still a "cult mentality" in the exjw community?
are there some that still want to feel "special"?
Someone said to me "You can take a person out of the JW's but you can't take the JW out of the person".
I don't believe that to be necessarily true, but I do think that it is important for exJW's to have some help to recover. Some may choose Counsellors or therapy of some kind. JWD is very helpful and healing for many of us in aiding the recovery process. It is very important to interact with people that are going through the same experiences and emotions.

i think this is related to the other threads about msnbc news.

.
This is quite a revealing article, so thank you for posting it. I will print it off and keep it to show my JW family.
