  Could an active JW read this without blinking?

  i'm not a big fan of huge ^c^v (cut and paste) posts but here goes..... i found this when i googled 'jehovahs witness landmark forum' - thats another post why i was doing that... http://www.ex-cult.org/general/identifying-a-cult takes about 3 minutes to read.... my question is 'could a jw read this and not even think 'is that us?''.

  God parent dilema.

  since my entire family are jw's and my wife's family are all chain smoking, heavy drinking white trash we had to go outside our families to find a god parent for our daughter.

  right after our daughter was born we asked some very good friends of ours if they would want to be and they agreed.

  just a few weeks ago we found they have become deeply involved in a fundamentalist christian church.

  Reinstatement to inactivity.

  a person is disfellowshipped, works hard to get reinstated and once they finally are, they go straight to inactivity and you almost never see them in the kingdom hall again.

  when i was an active jw i couldn't understand why a person would go through the process of reinstatement only to become inactive.

  i understand why now .

  Yes I know someone who got reinstated and then didn't go any more, and she was shunned any way. I don't know if she thought that once she was reinstated but didn't attend everyone would still treat her okay.

  My First Counselling Session. EDMR anybody?

  so it hadn't escaped my attention that two weeks ago i was melting faster than a snowman on a lava flow path.. i had to do something.

  i ended up in hospital.

  i hoped this would mean i'd get help, not just medication, which i've tried for 6 months and hasn't really helped.

  Crumpet - I have heard of EDMR therapy for people who have experienced trauma from cults etc, so I hope it works for you too.

  just wondered what you would make of this news story about a familys home that has strange paranormal goings on.the local council has called in and paid a psychic to rid the home of unwanted spirits.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7240405.stm.

  I actually knew a man who called himself a Psychic Investigator. He was employed by the Council to go and investigate homes that complained of being troubled in this way. Some of the stories were alarming! There was one particular house that I knew about and it was closed up by the Council as everone that moved in there were frightened to death by all kinds of strange things going on there.

  to everyone who is part of this forum.. i won't be on here for a while as i am seperating from my wife.

  i have found a place with a workmate.. thanks for your comments and support through difficult times.

  i am starting a new chapter in my life.. jw's have "destroyed" my life and seperated me from my friends and family.

  Elders: How were/are you to be towards the disfellowshipped?

  as we know that the elders are the only ones officially allowed to seek out disfellowshipped ones for the purpose of helping the get back into the congregation.

  i was wondering though, how are they to treat the df'd when out in public?

  are they instructed to completely shun them then?

  Other than the above-referenced "loving arrangement" elders are supposed to treat DFed people like pond scum too.
