i am referring to some of us that have had bad experiences with our jw family and friends.
even those of us that are "active" but we have expressed certain things about the organization.. do you really feel your witness family hates you?
or does your family think they are being loving to you by doing things "jehovah's way?".
My feelings on this are that they don't really hate us, but are conditioned to believe that they are doing the right thing. Ido believe that their natural emotions become stifled and warped to such a degree that they lose the capacity to know what real love and affection is. Very sad!

I havent joined another religious org. I have become a Christian though and meet in fellowship with other Christians.

dealing with the seven brothers and the one wife - jesus said, they will be as the angels, and cannot die anymore so my ??
is if they are not going to heaven and will stay on the earth as "eunuchs" are they "princes" since they cannot die anymore and arent supposed to go to heaven, so sayeth the wtb$??
and if the mate goes thru armageddon , apparently they will not live as husb and wife anymore ... any one out there with some insight on this?
When Jesus replied to the Saducees question about marriage, He knew they had no belief or understanding about the resurrection or spiritual things. The WT are in the same category in their lack of spiritual insight because of their erroneous teachings.
Life in the resurrection will not be based on the principles we live under now, but in a completely different dimension that we can't even imagine

i would like to know your thoughts on being spiritual as opposed to religious.
do you think they are one in the same, do you think the wts brings you to spirituality?
do you think the wts makes you a religious person?
In Alcoholics Anonymous there is a saying - "Religion is for those who are afraid of going to hell, and spirituality is for those who have been there".
I dont entirely agree with the above because I know there are many religious people who are very spiritual too. However there can be a big difference in that some religious people are obsessed with the rules, regulations and legality of their particular church, so much so that they lose their way. When this happens they become like the Pharisees of Jesus's, of which the JW religion has become a prime example.

this was something i was wanting to do for a long time .
i knew this friend as far back as elementary school, we played tennis together in high school , played music and sang together in his band a little.
a very nice guy who i was close to until age 19. but because of my jehovah's witness upbringing it changed at 19.. long story short, although my witness parents allowed me to associate with this friend and other non-witness friends, in 1979, my then fanatic witness fiance laid the law down to me that we could not have any non-witness friends at our wedding.

When I read this I was quite moved! To think that you had been obviously upset by not inviting such a good friend to your wedding all those years ago, and had always felt sad about it, really brings it home how much we were effected by being in such a cult!
I am so glad that you have had the opportunity to make amends to your friend, and that he is so understanding about it.
It is truly a wonderful gift to be free of the WT and able to feel and express genuine love for others, whatever they believe in.
I have also been able to welcome someone back into my life who has held a place in my heart for the past 20 years. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

well...my family is moving back to pa in may.
as a result, my wife wrote a 2nd letter to the brothers to see if she can get reinstated before she leave.
her first letter was ok but their response was, of course, attend more meetings!!.
I find it all so much against the true meaning of what Jesus was all about, that it does my head in when I read threads like this!

sure the wt deceived you with its claim to be god's channel but why for so many is there a subsequent loss of faith in god ?
it puzzles me and makes me wonder why they were jw's in the first place..
I am one that hasn't lost my faith in God since leaving the JWs. It was a very difficult time for me at first, but I was able to differentiate between the WT and God. I wasn't born into the WT but converted as an adult and was sincerely searching for answers to many, many questions that I had. Although I was devastated when I found out that I was in a cult and that they had cost me my family, my faith in God was still not destroyed and I have now moved on.

i have my jw bible but also have the good news bible that was used at the lutheran church i went to for about 8 yrs back in the 80's.. one (jw)is hard to read and understand some of the books and the (good news)other is to easy and leaves somethings out, well the jw one does to.. .

this question is for those who have attended another church since leaving the jw's.. i have considered attending a local church, firstly out of curiosity and secondly because i do enjoy discussing the bible with people and learning new thoughts on scripture.. the only thing that stops me though is crossing that line.
i guess it was a bit like when i first posted here, it took me ages to pluck up the courage and now what was the big deal?.
did anyone else have this feeling before attending another church, that feeling of crossing the line of no return.
I was extremely wary to tell the truth, and it took quite a while to overcome feelings of fear and distrust. Things have changed and I go to a Vineyard Church which has been a revelation and positive experience for me. Everything about it is the opposite of the JWs and I have begun to know and understand the meaning of the Gospels and the Grace of God.
