Congratulations!! Life is so much sweeter when you can breathe the free air! I hope that you will be able to let go of all the negative thoughts about homosexuality. My friend, K, had such a hard time accepting himself after all of the poisonous thoughts he had absorbed from his years in the "truth."

You should eat this cake. Are you gay?
by Cali Guy inthat question has been asked to me countless times ever since i can remember.
(the gay part, haha.
) reluctantly, i would quickly put an end to their thinkg with a swift, "no".. four days ago, after a couple of very strenuous months (years if you count the time i didn't except myself), i came out to my cousin (roommate).

I have a confession to make....
by Broken Promises in.
...that if i'm interested in someone, i read through their posting history to see what kind of people they are.. .
there.

I do that before sending PMs to anyone or if I receive a PM from someone I haven't seen post very much. I usually find a story and can respond better to their comments.
But then I noticed that I never put MY story up when I started and then when I came back from a little hiatus, I thought it was too late to "introduce" myself. Maybe my posts have said enough, who knows.

When I look around this forum I also see many people who are suffering because they left the JWs. However, I do NOT believe that they would suffer less if they had not left. The difference is that the pain of leaving will fade with time, while the pain of staying will never die.
We all made the decision to leave (either by choosing to walk away or by not jumping through the hoops to be reinstated after being thrown out) We knew, to some degree, how bad it could be to lose family and friends.
Just because we CHOSE to leave, knowing the consequences, doesn't mean it doesn't still hurt. This is a place where we can find comfort while dealing with those consequences.
Maybe you aren't ready to leave yet; that is fine. But, I would say that most people who post on this forum have generally made the decision to leave; they are simply waiting for the correct time.
Just my 2 cents.

A wise woman told me once, when I was teetering on the edge of suicide, that since I was not afraid to die I should think about what I AM afraid to do and then do it.
And so, I left my abusive husband, enrolled in college, and started checking out other religions. That was 8 years after leaving the JWs. 4 years later, I feel so much more in control of my future. It was so scary to face my JW parents afterward. But, it all turned out okay.
You are in control of your own destiny! Do something scarier than dying: LIVE.

That is horrible. I keep imagining those little hands clutching her sister's skirt and it makes me cry. I realize that I am so lucky that my parents are too 'weak' to shun more than a week at a time.

After leaving Jw's did you go into another religion or serv. god ur own way?
by average joe ini am just curious if you guys left jw's and now worship in some other relgion or worship in your own way?
have you sworn off organized religion ?
if you have not sworn off organized religion then i wonder what relgion seems to be the right one for you guys?

I joined another church when I realized that the JWs were full of crap. That was 7 years after my last meeting.
I left that religion after a year when I realized that I couldn't accept the illogical Christian doctrines. That was 3 years ago.
I believe in God. I am not officially part of any religion, but I do go to the Jewish synagogue on Saturday mornings to debate scripture. It is fun.

Why doesn't God just take a vote?

The Evilness that is Lady Gaga
by LouBelle intoday i got three seperate emails stating that lady gaga has sold her soul to the devil and is using her music and videos to further satan's goals.
they then go take the various symbology and wording in her music and videos and explain what they mean/represent.
she is rather wild and out there, and yes i'll admit she does use a lot of symbolism in her music videos.

These "comforting phrases" have always bothered me. They always seem to make people feel worse. It really is maddening. I always wondered: if God created everything and loves us all, why would he kill a baby and break so many hearts for another angel? Can't he just create one? Or, seriously, is he so impatient that he can't wait one human lifetime for that baby to live its life and die naturally?
It is so illogical... But most religious things feel that way to me.
